For smaller rooms, where your furniture is against the back wall and you really can't get TRUE surround, this is perfect...I am really happy with it so far. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great BUY Sunday, January 18, 2009 A Customer from Silver Spring, MD
This was a great buy for me. After comparing different sound bars from BB, I decided that this one was the best per value. I could get more expensive one but this one performs just as well. I dont know about the rear sound effect but definitely from the sides. Come on, no soundbar can replicate 5 speakers. But for me, placing 5 speakers was not an option. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Product Thursday, January 15, 2009 A Customer from Columbus, OH
FM tuner built in is plus. Easy to set up. Small enough to sit underneath the TV(plasma 50"). Much better sound quality than from the TV speakers. Batman DVD sounded awesome with this sound system hooked up. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product! Friday, December 26, 2008 Scott from Fenton, MI
A sound bar is a very easy way to get great sound without the difficulty of setting up a 5.1 system with rear speakers. Our couch is against the opposite wall so it would be difficult to get speakers behind it and in the proper position. This system was very easy to connect and use. The "enhanced" mode is really awesome. The unit is low enough to sit in front of the 61" TV without blocking anything (including the IR to the TV). I like the fact that it doesn't have a DVD player because I don't need another upconvert, or standard DVD player - I want to purchase a seperate Blue Ray and connect directly to it. I listened to several units in the store and found this one one of the best - much better than the Sony soundbar. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A great deal Tuesday, December 09, 2008 A Customer from Millington TN
Will this system sound as good as 5 good speakers and a subwoofer? No.
Is it easier to set up? Heck yes.
I move a lot and I've grown tired of setting up my sound system every time I move. Each new home presents a new challenge. So, when upgrading my TV, I decided to go with a sound bar. The Yamaha looked like a good deal and it is.
Movies and games come alive with this system. Does my old 5.1 speaker system sound better? Well, this is subjective, but technically I guess so. I really like the Yamaha's balance of sound and while it won't please audiophiles, it's a great compromise for those of us tired of stringing speaker wire all over the place. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works well within its design limitations Tuesday, September 30, 2008 A Customer from Everett, WA
Although I can't detect much "virtual" surround sound, this unit works well for what it is. I will trade some performance for ease of use and this pays off in spades within those parameters. The subwoofer works great and really fills in the lower end. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Virtual surround is the way to go. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 chris421 from Oldsmar, FL
The YAS looks and, more importantly, sounds fantastic! No more speaker wires running two a half dozen monstrosities in my living room.
Simple, elegant, powerful and clear. TV shows that I always accused the actors of mumbling, actually make sense now. :)
Very happy with this system.
