1 of 5 Doesn't work for HondaAcura or Subaru Monday, January 14, 2008 A Customer from San Jose, CA
This item only works for Nissan. I was disappointed to find that this will not work for my 2001 Honda Accord (when it is supposed to). That is because there are three types of XK02: NISSDL (Nissan/Infinity), HODL (Honda/Acura), and SUBDL (Subaru). It can be modified to work with Honda/Acura and Subaru, by reprogramming the firmware (software). However, that will require the purchase of an XKLoader (additional $60). Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Need Programmer - Extra $60 Sunday, January 13, 2008 A Customer from San Francisco, CA
On Xpresskit's website or bypasskit.com, it shows that this unit is compatible with my Honda. They should have put a star in the compatibility chart next to all Honda's, Acura's, and Subaru's, because it is not compatible unless you buy the XKLoader USB interface.
The XKLoader allows you to plug it into your computer, and flash the appropriate firmware (software) for your car. This module is pre-loaded with Nissan/Infinity firmware.
I am not about to pay another $60 for the USB programmer, so I have to return it. It is not worth that much, when all alarms are able to do the same thing without it. It is just an added convenience of less cut wires in the car, but it is not worth the money.
On the plus side, the installation manual is clear and easy to follow compared to other car alarm installation instructions I've seen.
note: This device is only a door/trunk control unit. It is not an immobilizer bypass Was this review helpful?
