This is the most obnoxious noise maker I have ever encountered. It installs easily and performs very admirably, and if you are deaf it may well have the best price performance in the industry. If you are not deaf you either will be soon or you need some heavy duty ear protection. The sound is very nearly equivalent to my wife's Maytag Neptune front loading washer during its spin cycle. Only the video card does it constantly and the washer quits after a minute or two. I cannot live with that wailing, so I reluctantly have to return the XFX 8600 GT.

After salivating over the GeForce 9600, but not quite ready to unload the $$$ to get it, I settled on the 8600 GT XXX. For the pocket change spent on it, I am totally satisfied. Even with the additional fan, the box is extremely quiet. I'm not a gamer, however the box that I just built would make an amateur gamer wish for it. I use the box for video editing. My new box contains: Core 2 Quad; Q6600; Intel DX38BT MoBo; 4 GB memory; XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX; and two 500GB SATA HD. Overall, I would give the 8600 GT XXX 5 stars for performance as well as value. Buy.com offers some sweet deals if you're not in a rush for it.

I initially built my computer ~6 months ago, buying one of these cards as the primary card. Since I made sure to buy a motherboard capable of SLI (EVGA 680i LT), it came time for me to buy a second card in order to implement the SLI mode. I haven't had any major problems out of the original card, nor the one I recently purchased. The only /minor/ issue I would state would be that the cards run a bit hot for my taste. Using speedfan, the video card cores consistently run 60C when not playing any major games. When playing games, that jumps to a usual 65C. (Sometimes 67C.) My case has plenty of air cooling, with the bottom of the case at ~28C, the processor (E6750 oc'ed to 2.9Mhz) runs at ~42C, and the active cooling on the 680i LT board keeps the chipset at 55C. In short, the cards simply run hot. But, with the XFX lifetime warranty due to their factory overclocking, if one does burn up, I'll simply get a replacement. ----- Lastly, in regard to Buy.com, I have nothing but good things to say. This is one of the first places I check when I comparison shop for parts.

I was expecting a little more than I received my picture when viewing a movie is still a little blurry and perhaps it is not the board but I thought it would clear when I purchsed this board. That is the only complaint I have otherwise the board is great .

Very good graphics card for price. I can buy two of these and run in SLI for less than one 8800, with similiar performance....

This nVidia graphics card is most bang for the buck. Runs all my game on high or ultra high. Plus it come with Company of Heroes which is a kick ass game.

Buy.com is awesome - fast shipping and easy - everyone should use them! The card was simple, simple, simple to install and configure. I didn't have to disable my onboard video, although they recommend it. Using the DVI cable into a new 22" Acer monitor and BAM it's working. They have a really nice utility for setting your color and brightness too, makes it easy to get "good enough". I don't game much, but watch movies and do video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro as well as graphics editing. The color match is very, very good for pro-consumer type work.

What's not to like. Great alround graphics card at a reasonable price and a LIFE TIME Warranty. This replaced a Leadtek card whose fan went south on me, to be fair I did have that card three years. But hey why not get a card with a forever Warranty!

This card is pretty good for the cost of $114 dollars. I have tested the card out with several games including Crysis. Crysis was only able to run at medium resolution. The game still looks pretty amazing even at these settings. This is not the end all be all card though if you are looking for something that will make your eyes bleed with visual ecstasy. This card is just good enough to get you through the holidays of 07 in my opinion.

Actually, I bought two of these cards for my SLI ready motherboard. Played Call of Duty4 and am now playing Crysis and both play flawlessly. The price, fast shipping and ease of use are outstanding. I'm very satisfied.

I Actually bought two of these cards with $20 rebates $100 bucks each to get DirectX 10 support. I have them setup in SLI, prior to buying these I a read review that with XFX XXX version almost equivalent in speed to More expensive 8600 GTS. Well when I got mine I did some tweaking of my own. First I scrapped the crappy stock cooler XFX offers ( by the way XFX lets you overclock and place aftermarket coolers on there items and IT DOES NOT VOID warranty ) I then went on eBay and bought two Zalman VF900-Cu Video card coolers and placed Copper Heat sinks on Memory modules. ( I had to cut down the Copper shims of Ram sinks to fit under the Zalman VF900-Cu heat sink BUT it works quite well I used Enzotech Pure Forged Copper Ramsinks BCC9 14.95 for 8 enough for 2 video cards. Then I downloaded RIVATUNER which allows you to Overclock much better then NVIDIA's driver. Stock XFX XXX Card GPU 620 Mhz Memory 1.6 Ghz. Mine runs stable with above cooling setup with GPU Core of 740 Mhz and Memory at 1.8 Ghz. I have had it much higher and stable, but did run into some artifacts in some 3D intensive games. I just backed it down. and Have messed with it since then, for last 2 months still running stable at GPU Core of 740 Mhz and Memory at 1.8 Ghz. Which considering the card is Already hard ware overclocked by XFX to begin with is VERY Impressive. I am sure my benchmarks are in line with some 8600 GTS cards from other manufactures. PLEASE NOTE when you overclock these cards they have no supplemental power connector to feed the need when overclocking so the additional power will be drawn through your PCI express SLI slots, make sure your Mother board can handle it. ( USE Name Brand well known Game Motherboards ie ASUS ) Mine is a ASUS A8N32 SLI Deluxe with a AMD 64 FX2 Dual core processor. Last Note if you care to follow my Upgrades do Google or eBay searches for named Items and or Rivatuner software ( Free ) and lastly despite the XFX XXX 8600GT NOT being listed as a card that the Zalman VF900-Cu heat sink fits on. TRUST me it does easily without strong arming or special adjustments. Hope you all find this intuitive and helpful. Just to make you sick these cards were just experiments in DirectX 10. I also have 2 XFX 8800 Ultra XXX which our no longer available to buy to my knowledge. These are for system I am waiting to build with new Intel Penryn chip when there is a Decent Motherboard that supports SLI with this new Intel chip. Ha ha I love Toys.....

No stability problems and outstanding performance with this factory overclocked card. It actually runs very quiet and doesn't need an extra power connector like many higher-end cards. Overall very happy with the purchase and will probably buy another to SLI when I want another performance boost.

I needed a graphics card to play some games and also get the full graphics for vista Ultimate! and walla now I have all that! playing games like Dirt! and fear with Maximum settings... well dirt only took out people standing around to save graphics power... But over all GREAT CHOICE! highly recomendeedddddd!!

This video card is fantastic !! I heard some people saying that it isn't a good deal, but I really don't think so. I have alle of my games (like Battlefield 2, Swat, and even the demo of Quake Wars: Ennemy territory) running at full resolution ( up to 1600*...) and with all the details set to maximum. Plus i had a surprise the card comes with the full version of Company of Heroes !!!! Great great deal,unless your willing to pay 300$ for an geforce 8800, THIS is the right card for you.

I put max setting on battlefield 2142 and it was soooo smooth. Company of heros also plays awesome with max settings. You can basically put any game on max settings and it should work. And another good thing is that its DX10.

Bought this from buy.com with a rebate (of course) installed it quickly and easily in the machine (dell tower with dual AMD processor) and presto...graphics on battlefield are very very impressive... Great card for gaming, my sons are both very happy campers.

I just received the XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX version in the mail today and installed it. Amazing. I am not a huge computer gamer but I edit a lot of hi def video and this thing runs so fast it is like a whole different computer. The fan runs constantly but it is about as quiet as the CPU fan so not much more noise. My Windows Vista score for the graphics went from a 3.3 with an NVIDIA NVS 285 (128mb) to a 5.9 with this card. If you are still reading this, buy it. This is what you are looking for.

i bought this card just recently and it shipped early too. setup was easy and it came with the correct drivers. i upgraded from my 7300 gs and this card just turned out to be many levels above and beyond what my old 7300 could be. Battlefield 2142 ran perfectly smooth with all settings turned to max, so basically put, buy this card!

my system specs are: AMD athlon x2 5200+ 2 GB RAM 320 GB i had Nvidia 6150 128mb after i installed this video card, it improved the graphics trillion times. i now play black and white 2, battlefield 2 and all the heavy consuming resources games won high settings with no problem. worth every penny

IF anyone wants to buy a video card that is good and cheap, this is the one! im having a huge blast playing all the latest DX10 games at a good resolution. I can also see that my computer is going faster as the new card takes a huge load of the CPU. Awesome card!!

Buy.com came through as expected. Their delivery was fast & expedient. The product is great, all that I expected when ordering it. The only glitch I encountered was the software that came in the package. It is intended for XP owners, mine was a Vista. The nice thing about the 8600 series video cards are that they were developed for Vista, to utilize their capabilities. Sooo why do they put XP software in the package???? Anyway, If you're a Vista owner, don't load the software that comes in the packaging, rather download the Vista version before installing! It's very good card for the price and it's XFX so no question about speed. Haven't played any games on it yet other than Halo 2 but I am sure it will handle them all well. It should handle all games in market currently at medium to high settings.. I would recommend this card over any 7000 series. It's preety close to 7900 series geforce with DX10 so why go for old direct x card when you get similar with newer technology...
