The specification say this card had a fan heat sink but it does not. This card overheats when running in 1080P resolution for my media center PC. It took me several weeks to have tech support come to the obvious conclution. Now they want me to return it for a replacement but will not cross ship. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great Price, Good Product Saturday, December 08, 2007 A Customer from Ann Arbor, MI
For the price, this is a great video card. I didn't need it for gaming, but it has drastically improved the performance of my computer. My computer came with ATI Radeon Express 200, which was really bad. This is a good video card for an excellent price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works fine out of box Monday, December 03, 2007 A Customer from Tempe, AZ
Ordered this card and just plugged it into my desktop. Works well with linux. Had to go in normal login and reconfigure the desktop and the card works without any issues. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 video card Monday, December 03, 2007 Jack from Birmingham, AL
This is a very good video card, which I bought when I had to replace my motherboard. My screens are crisper than before. Again, I'm not playing any video games, but it works great for what I do, and the rebate didn't hurt my feelings at all. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Driver causing system crush Monday, December 03, 2007 Mugg from Sugar Land, TX
Cheap and easy to install. Support dual monitor (DVI+Analog). Quiet and perform OK with vista (score 3.5). It caused system to take long time to shutdown or restart and back with unexpected shutdown error from vista without solution even after I downloaded and installed the latest driver from nVidia. Since my new system came late after I ordered this card, I cannot RMA the card with great buy.com 14 days return policy, which means I have to trash it and get a new one like 8600GT instead. 5 of 5 Great price. Good performance. Monday, December 03, 2007 A Customer from London, Ohio
Runs games much better than the onboard nVidia 7050PV it replaces. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Budget card for a budget mind Friday, November 30, 2007 Luke from Carlstadt, NJ
An okay card for an okay computer. For most people, this will suffice and will be a tremendous upgrade over integrated video. If you don't know much about computers, don't worry! It's a breeze installing it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far so good..... Thursday, November 29, 2007 A.S. from Roseville, CA
Barely fits (consider length issues in mid-atx cases), but works well with my Dell 22" - leaps and bounds better than the integrated chipset that I had to suffer with while I waited for this card to ship.
I'm not a gamer, so I can't really comment on the real performance of the card. Seems to work real good for editing video off the digicam. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 not that fast and too hot Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from macomb mi
Basically when watching a video or something it tends to almost lock up at times and i think its because its almost over heating. if you touch the heat sink on it, it literally will burn your finger in a half second. ive never felt a card get this hot before and im a computer tech. maybe something is wrong but im not all that happy with it.

5 of 5 Cheap Video Card...that got cheaper Wednesday, November 28, 2007 beancity from Utica, NY
This card was definitely an upgrade from my old card, but had I waited a couple more weeks - the price dropped to about half what I paid.
No problems with compatibility or installation. I'm very satified with my purchase Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent XFX Quality & buy.com Pricing! Monday, November 26, 2007 PatM from Albuquerque NM
This is an excellent video card for any system with a PCIx16 slot. Not the 'state-of-the-art' by today's standards, but even that won't be in a week or two! This board carries a very recent nVidia chip and memory. Easy to drop-in and get up and running. Linux, with nVidia driver installed, recognized the board and it came up fine. Performs perfectly, and buy.com pricing and service to back it up - buy it, you'll like it! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great price + great performance = happy experience Saturday, November 24, 2007 A Customer from Sammamish, WA
I got this card a few days ago, and boom suddenly I can play star wars best of PC with ultra high detail on T-day. I am very pleased with the price i paid (less than $28 if I receive the rebate)and the performance I got. This card did a lot better job than my 256MB ATI X800XL PCI-e card on the game. 5 of 5 Great card for low profile desktops Tuesday, November 20, 2007 A Customer from Columbus, OH
Bought two of these and installed it in two Dell low-profile desktops. Both Dell's had onboard graphics. I had to make some metal brackets to fit the low profile case to mount the card to, but the cards work beautifully. I am using these machines to display media presentations full screen on the secondary monitor while controlling the application in the primary monitor, and it works just great. Also I needed a silent card. These are passively cooled but generate some heat, so my case fan spins up and down more than it used to to exhaust the hot air. Overall a great value for the money. 5 of 5 Practically Plug-and-Play for Vista Monday, November 19, 2007 SS from Amherst, MA
I was stunned at the ease of compatibility with vista. I literally inserted the hardware, it prompted me for software, then I was done. Overall I've had so many problems with vista (3 wireless adapters and counting) just like everyone else that this product was a breath of fresh air. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just a Great Deal on State-of-the-Art Video! Saturday, November 03, 2007 Pat Martini from Albuquerque NM
Searching the 'net for a high performance, but reasonably priced PCIe video card, I found the XFX 8400GS here at buy.com for a real bargain price. An exclusive buy.com $20 rebate was also offered - I couldn't pass up this great deal.
buy.com got the thing shipped the same day, and I got it 2 days later - perfect! Their website and service is second to none!!
I popped the board into my AM2 Opteron dual core motherboard, and it came right up under Suse Linux. The nVidia driver recognized the card immediately, and the configuration was exactly as advertised. I am very satisfied with the XFX card and the great service from buy.com - I recommend both very highly!! Was this review helpful?
4 of 4 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Excellent graphics card for the money Friday, October 19, 2007 A Customer from Denver, CO
Getting this card for $35 (with rebate) was a steal. With an effective 512mb, this card beautifully handled demanding graphic-intensive games like Bioshock and Neverwinter Nights 2 with options turned up. Very pleased with the performance and value. Was this review helpful?
3 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Nice card, weired clock speed Wednesday, October 17, 2007 A Customer from FL
Overall this card is pretty good serving as an entry-level video card, since it is just a stripped down 8500GT with only 64bit memory bus. The strange thing about this card is that the Nvidia driver reporting the memory clock is only 333MHz (which means 666MHz), instead of the spec says 400MHz(800MHz). When I tried to set the memory clock to 400MHz, the video card will crash 1 out of 4 times. I don't know is it me or the card, but I did open a ticket with XFX and waiting for their response now.
