5 of 5 Best card for the money! Tuesday, May 23, 2006
RLR from Atlanta, GA

This card rocks. I've smoothly played the following games at 1024X768 resolution or higher upto 1280X1024. * Quake4 * Unreal Tournament 2004 (1280X1024, highest settings) * Doom3 * Far Cry * FEAR * SC4 (hi settings) * Serious Sam 2 * Age of Empires III * and many more FPS games There is a slight problem with the card tho. the heat sink is quite large and is only secured by two push pins. This causes it too get loose over time and rattles. I'm afraid if not secured again it might overheat the GPU. I've had the card for 7 months and that was the only problem.

5 of 5 Great Card Tuesday, October 25, 2005
Hanna from Newton, MA
Awesome performance. Huge Improvement over my GeForce4. One small caveat, it does not come with the 3 full version games the webpage says it does. I think that was a previous version. Doesn't matter though, I bought it for the new games that are coming out now.

5 of 5 Works great Saturday, October 08, 2005
Stephen from Toronto, MD
Plugged it in and it works as advertised. Dramatically faster video than my old 128MB Xtasy Ti4200 which was no slouch.

4 of 5 Don't expect it to look the same as the picture! Sunday, March 27, 2005
Lukas from East Rutherford, NJ
Don't expect it to look the same as the picture! The heatsink is a little different... but, all in all... you won't be LOOKING inside the case, so it's alright. No complaints here... I connected my two (2) Dell 1900FP 19" LCD monitors and my setup rocks!

5 of 5 Fast and stable video card, and works great on Lin Wednesday, March 09, 2005
Ken Zalewski from Troy, NY
I purchased this AGP-based video card as an upgrade from my GeForce4 Ti4400. Installation was simple and straightforward. The fan is fairly quiet (my card has the newer fan which supposedly keeps the card even cooler).
I am running the card on Linux (kernel 2.6.11) under X.org v6.8.1 with the NVidia Linux driver v6629 (patched for kernel 2.6.11). Framerates are fantastic, and stability has been great. No crashes or freezes at all.
My card came with only one DVI-2-VGA adapter in the box, although it was supposed to come with two. I e-mailed XFX customer support, and within one week, I had another adapter shipped to me. Therefore, I must say that I am very impressed with their customer support.
I cannot indicate how well this card runs on Windows, since I use Linux as my primary desktop, but I would be surprised if it was anything less than screaming fast and stable on Windows as well.
I find this card to pack a great deal of bang for the buck, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for extremely fast video processing for a reasonable price.
If you have questions and need to contact me, e-mail me at kennyz AT nycap.rr.com (written long-form to avoid spam).

5 of 5 Awesome! Monday, February 14, 2005
Adam from Bel Air, MD
This card has exceeded my expectations in every way! I upgraded from a TI 4200 because it died on me. Without having to buy a new motherboard so i could jump to PCIExpress I went with this card. What a huge jump in all-around performance. Graphics are noticibly enhanced and because of the on board GPU the rest of my system seems to have sped up as well. Highly recommended!

5 of 5 Dual DVI for my dual 19" LCDs Sunday, February 06, 2005
info from East Rutherford, New Jersey
I bought this card due to the EXTREMELY HIGH reviews that others have posted. I've been out of the video card market for a while and this one is replacing my ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 64MB (AGP). I've set it up with my Dell 1900FP 19" LCD screens and I love it!!! It's truly an amazing card with amazing possibilities. And I only use it for Photoshop, programming, web development, etc. Watching DVD's is also a great experience in truly using the widescreen potential! As far as gaming goes... I haven't tried yet, but I heard it can take on HL2 and Doom3 and FarCry like no other!

5 of 5 Excellent game Sunday, January 30, 2005
Bob N from C-burg, VA
This is simply the best game out there for my money! Its video beats Doom3, the story line beats anybody else and the overall game play is swift and intuitive. The controls are set up nicely and the effects and stunningly realistic. It is not an EASY game, one must think a little more than on the typical shooter, but the payoff is a great game which one feels immersed in! I love it. Period. Valve has made as great a leap with this one as they did years ago with the first version. Keep it up folks!

5 of 5 Awesome card, poor installation instructions. Wednesday, December 22, 2004
Chuck from Austintown, Ohio
The GeForce 6600 GT is a solid choice for the gamer on a budget. Far below the price of many high end cards, it remains nearly as strong, and sometimes proves to be stronger (500 mhz core speed). Highly recomended for anyone who doesnt quite want to jump ship to PCI-E until some clearer options become presented. DO NOT FORGET TO PLUG IN A POWER CORD INTO THE END OF THE CARD. It does not mention this in any manuals (to my knowledge). Search around your case for an extra power cord (much like the big one going into a floppy drive). This will be placed into the end slot with the 4 large pins. If you forget to do this, your computer will consistently crash during intense graphics applications and games (Your monitor will likely black out and read "In power save mode. Please touch any button on the keyboard or mouse" if you press one of the monitor buttons). It would have been nice to have a better game then Nascar, x-men or commandos; Doom3 or Farcry would have been a plus. Over all, however, I am very satisfied with this card. It runs Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and Counter Strike: Condition Zero with butter smooth frame rates. I can't wait until I get Half Life 2 for Christmas. My computer: Asus A7N 400 mhz FSB, Athlon Sempron 3000 (2 GHz), 1 gig of PC3200, Antec Case (with 425 watt power supply?)

4 of 5 Very loud!! Wednesday, December 15, 2004
iFix from Hackensack, NJ
Bought the card then returned it! I couldn't find any standard product to quiet it down. I got in touch with Arctic Cooling and they WILL NOT make a cooler for this one. So I got a 6800 which now has a NV Silencer 5 on it so it's nice a quiet!

5 of 5 Rock Solid Video Card Tuesday, December 14, 2004
A Customer from irvine, ca
PCI-Express hasn't hit the mainstream yet, but its benefits have been written everywhere. For the person who wants that mid-range card with high-end performance this is the card to get.

5 of 5 Hot!! Monday, December 06, 2004
A Customer from Boston, MA
Well pleasantly surprised is the expression I was looking for.. Overall this is card performs better than I expected.. Doom3, HL2, JointOps Escalation, they all run smooth as I could ever need them. I replaced a Ati 9600xt with this card and the performance increase is amazing, when I first bought my 9600xt the price was around the same range but this card performs about 3 times better than it ever could, i'm finally back to Nvidia and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Pros: 2 Dvi connections on the gpu but the package also includes 2 converters for analog crt's. It's blue and looks good through any window. Performs like a true DX9 card right out the package, no o/c needed. Cons: The fan on this sucker is LOUD, anyone into the quiet pc fad will want to add a Zalman heatpipe to this card.. the fan isn't really that loud when compared to other gpu fans i've had in the past, but it sure is the loudest thing in my supposedly 14db quiet pc.

5 of 5 Don't Forget to plug in the Power Connector! Monday, December 06, 2004
A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Great card...especially for the price. Just don't forget to plug a molex connector from your system's power supply into the card. This only applies to the AGP version of the card, and XFX left that little tidbit out of the manual.

5 of 5 Great Performance for the Money! Thursday, December 02, 2004
A Customer from Bay Area, CA
This XFX board delivers great performance which cannot be matched for the price. Furthermore, the XFX version of this board features a slick blue pcb and good construction quality. Excellent out of the box overclockability as well! Highly recommend, and unlike the 6800's, this card has all of nvidia's new video acceleration features!

5 of 5 Awesome card!! Wednesday, December 01, 2004
A Customer from Chicago, IL
I upgraded from my trusty GeForce4 4600 that is now getting a little old. I didn’t want to upgrade the MoBo, CPU and RAM so I got this card for the AGP interface. It is a sweet card for the money! I dropped it in my existing system and now I’m getting 7995 on 3Dmark03. It is quieter than the 4600 it replaces and much faster. Halo is giving me almost double the frame rate with all the options on max. Doom3 runs like a dream. Half-Life 2 is awesome and Far Cry looks stunning and runs faster even with the options cranked up. I haven’t pushed it yet but I’m running at 525 / 1.0 with absolutely no problems at all. I’ve heard of running 540 / 1.0 on this card. Given the price you can not go wrong with this card, especially if you’re going from a 3rd or 4th generation GeForce card.

5 of 5 Great Card! Monday, November 29, 2004
A Customer from Hackettstown, NJ
I upgraded from a GEFORCE FX5200 to this card. I went from under 1000 on 3DMark03 to around 8000. I can run every game I have with everything maxed (FarCry, UT2004, COD, MOH, Battlefield, Painkiller, others). I couldn't even play Halo before with it turned all the way down, now I can crank everything up and it runs smooth. Highly recommended

5 of 5 Booya! Monday, November 29, 2004
A Customer from New Jersey
WOW...This card is a beast! Went from a ti4600 to this.. so extremely glad I didnt go with a 9800pro.. or even an XT for that matter (have a friend who has an XT and is going nuts with heat issues). I am very impressed thus far. Have it OC'd from 500/1000 to 585/1195.. not a hiccup, no voltage tweaks, stock cooler (which I felt while benchmarking and gaming, wasn't even hot, in fact it was barely warm) Still havent seen the upper limit on this puppy. 3dmark2001se...20,080 3dmark05...3503 Aquamark03...57,685 Played HL2 for HOURS over the weekend 1024 4XAA everything max'd.. it was beautiful.. (sniffle).. sorry. Specs: Athlon 64 3200+ (modestly OC'd at 2.31Ghz) - DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb - 1GB OCZ 3500
