this is the way to go if you have an xbox and need more controllers, i now have a black, green, red and white controller all with this wireless adapter so i never have to pay for new batteries. i would suggest getting it from buy.com because they have a great price and are very easy to use with great customer service.

Great product, very finely crafted with quality plastic. however, unlike what another reviewer said, the USB cable will NOT allow you to use this controller on the PC and play while it charges like on the 360. In order to play games with this on the PC, you must also purchase the wireless receiver from Microsoft. The cable is simply for charging the battery.

The cord is an okay length, 6 ft with some slack.. probably about 7 ft long. Perfect for when your battery's dead and you don't want to wait for the battery to fully charge with the dock stand charging thing, you just plug it in when it dies and keep on playing!

The controller works great and the price is the best! A must for Xbox 360 owners. The usb cable used for charging the battery is a decent length, allowing you to charge and play at the same time while being a good distance away from the TV. Highly recommend!

Still cheaper to buy the wireless controller and the play n charge kit seperately, $39.99 for the controller and $16.99 for the play n charge kit = 56.98, although you don't get the free shipping on the other items. Budget shipping on buy.com is slower than if if you walked to the distribution center, picked it up, and walked it home yourself.
All things being equal, a wireless battery + charging kit is essential to an xbox system, nothing sucks worse than your last set of AA's dying and you can't play at all. The fact that you can play while it's charging means if you pick up your controller and hit the X button and it doesn't turn on, you don't have to wait for it to charge, you just have to suffer with it connected via a cable. You can also charge it on your laptop/computer through the USB port, and the cable also lets you use your Xbox controller in Windows. A must have.

If you are like me and hate going out to the store every other week to buy more batteries then this is a buy for you. If your charge starts to get low, instead of having the annoyance of the controller shutting down on you, just plug it into your xbox for a little and continue to play while it charges!
If on the other hand you do like using batteries, this package can still do that and for the price of just about the same as a wireless controller, but you get the plug and play adapter also!

If you were one of the people like me who didn't get an Xbox 360 with a wireless controller, this is a great addition. It's nice to not have to be tethered to the console with the cable, but it's a great feature that you can continue to play while you charge up the controller as well. It's a short cable, but it gives you the option to keep playing, rather than sit and wait for your batteries to re-charge. Or be forced to buy a 2nd battery pack as a backup.

To the reviewer who said that there's no indication of the battery charge, you're right, and the cable light indicator is unreliable. But, you can go to the Dashboard, and at the top of one of the blades is an indicator showing the charge level of your controller's battery.

The controller was as expected. the 360 controller is very easy to use. The wireless factor is a HUGE improvement over any of the prior controllers.
One issue with the plug and play is that the wire isn't long enough to sit far back (I think it must be 6 feet). My sofa must be 8-10 feet back so I can't sit on it while the controller charges.
Second issue is that you never know how much battery is left (when playing or when charging). The light is either red or green. I wish they had an indicator.
Third issue is that it only charges when you are playing. Not a major issue but I wish it charged anytime.
