X-Men Collection (X-Men/X2 - Widescreen Edition) (2000)

X-MEN: Based on Stan Lee's Marvel comic book series, X-Men recounts the story of Professor Xavier's X-Men, all born with a unique genetic mutation, and their physical and philosophical battle with the Professor's former colleague and friend, Magneto, who believes mutants are the rightful heirs to the future. They are scientific oddities... outcasts who are feared and loathed by those who cannot accept their differences. Yet despite society's pervasive ignorance, Cyclops (James Marsden), Jean (Famke Janssen) and Storm (Halle Berry), and thousands like them survive. Their professor (Patrick Stewart) welcomes two newcomers: Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Rogue (Anna Paquin). The X-Men find themselves in conflict with the Professor's former colleague and friend, Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto (Ian McKellen). He and his evil brotherhood--the mammoth Sabretooth (Tyler Mane), the metamorph Mystique (Rebecca Romjin-Stamos) and the near-sighted, far-jumping Toad (Ray Park)--will stop at nothing to ensure that future, even if it threatens the very existence of mankind...or mutant kind.

X2: X-MEN UNITED: Mutants continue their struggle against a society that fears and distrusts them. Their cause becomes even more desperate following an incredible attack by an as yet undetermined assailant possessing extraordinary abilities. The shocking attack renews the political and public outcry for a Mutant Registration Act and an anti-mutant movement now led by William Stryker, a wealthy former Army Commander who is rumored to have experimented on mutants. Stryker's "mutant" work is somehow tied to Logan's mysterious and forgotten past. As Wolverine searches for clues to his origin, Stryker puts into motion his anti-mutant program - launching an attack on Xavier's Mansion. Magneto, newly escaped from his plastic prison, proposes a partnership with the X-Men to combat their common and formidable enemy: Stryker. With the fates of Xavier, mankind - and mutantkind - in their hands, the X-Men face their most dangerous mission ever.
