5 of 5 Good buy! Saturday, July 11, 2009
Chris from MA

Works great. Looks great. This is a perfect sized laptop if you want something small to tote around but not too small and toylike like the little eee pc's. The build quality is also very high for such an inexpensive item. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

5 of 5 Great first computer! Saturday, April 04, 2009
kim from lawrenceville, PA
Wonderful computer for an active teen. I purchased this laptop for my daughter and we have been very pleased with it. My daughter especially likes the fact that it is so lightweight and easy to use. I was impressed with all the built in functions for an unbelievably low price. A great first computer!

5 of 5 Great netbook at a great price Wednesday, March 11, 2009
A Customer from Elizabethtown, KY
I have been wanting one of these for some time and when I saw that I could get the MSI with the 10" screen for the same price as the cheaper built 7" ones, I jumped on it. Glad I did, it is built so much better than the Aspire brand that I had been looking at. It boots up real fast and gets a great wifi connection. You have to get used to using a large capacity thumb drive to transfer programs because there is no optical drive but that is a small price to pay for the portability of this unit. My only complaint is that it comes with no manual (other than a quick setup guide) and I had to find out through a forum how to do certain things.

5 of 5 Great Machine! Wednesday, March 11, 2009
-Duane from Wendell NC
Man...where to start? 1) The machine is a beaut to look at, compared to the standard issued black laptop. 2) Boot time is very quick, (under 1 minute), MUCH faster than my AMD Phenom Quad. 3) The 10" LED screen produces gorgeous colors, and allows for full page display. 4)I have very large hands and the keyboard works fine for me,(the smaller 9" keyboards didn't work for me). 5) Easily upgradeable, I bumped my RAM to 2GB (max) with no sweat. I can run an Office suite program + Firefox + firewall, with NO problem! 6) SO portable! 6)Did I mention how nice this thing looks? So much so that my wife, (an admitted techno-phobe), has claimed this as her own! Oh well, you know the saying: "If Mama's happy...." 7) Excellent value!!!! Get one now!

5 of 5 Excellent mini notebook Sunday, March 08, 2009
Neeraj Tulsian from Austin, TX
I am very happy with the netbook after one month of purchasing it. The CPU is fast enough, the disk size is sufficient, the screen is not too small, the keyboard is almost normal to use. The small issues are : the touchpad scrolling is very confusing and I often end up with a single click instead of the intended scrolling action. The wireless and webcam are off by default and it took me a few minutes to figure that out, meanwhile I was thinking that I would have to return the item. The bottom gets quite warm, warmer than my HP 15 inch. The battery life is not much about 1.5 hours. Other than that I have no serious problems and I'm very happy with the purchase. My parents found the netbook very attractive and cute and the pearl white color is very stylish. A Dell 8.9 netbook owner remarked that my notebook's keyboard was MUCH better and he would probably trade his Dell for my Wind Notebook from MSI.

5 of 5 Yes its real and real upgradable Saturday, March 07, 2009
Victor R. Volkman from Ann Arbor
Threw in another 1GB SODIMM to reach 2GB (requires voiding the warranty). It's a solid product and can often be found sub-$300 if you wait long enough.

5 of 5 It can run Mac OSX! Make it a Hackintosh! Monday, February 16, 2009
Hackintosh from Appletown, USA
One of the little know secrets of this nifty little machine is that it can run Mac OSX 10.4 (not the latest 10.5) making it the missing link in the Apple Macintosh line - namely and small and inexpensive MAC laptop. There may be issues around the licesing of the MAC OSX software (read your eula) but there is no doubt that it can be done. Here is an article about how: http://tinyurl.com/4yur56 Note: due to the meger 3 cell battery, the predicted 2.5 hour battery life on this unit is not great compared to competitors like machines. wonder if msi offers alternative batteries.

5 of 5 Still the best netbook for the price Thursday, January 15, 2009
A Customer from Phoenix, AZ
The BEST netbook in this category is the Samsung NC10, but you have to question if the additional features (longer battery life, better form factor, better manufacturer) are worth spending the extra two Benjamin Franklins. For me, it was an easy choice. It has the best support for alternative operating systems and a great active support forum on the web. Modern gaming lacks, but all other applications I've used have run flawlessly. Aftermarket parts (additional batteries, A/C adapters, external CD/DVD drives) are cheap on auction sites. My primary use is for internet and note-taking in a university setting.

5 of 5 Great Mini Notebook for the price. Tuesday, January 13, 2009
Joe from Allamuchy, NJ
Works great no problems screen is bright and clear. Screen size is easy to read and the keyboard is easy to type on. Keys feel solid and have a good feel when you press them. No internal CD/DVD but you have to give up something for small size so if you want to watch movies, I don't that what TV's are for, you have to get the external DVD drive. Light and easy to carry around battery lasts 3-5 hours easily. Easy to pack and travel with or walk around the house without giving up anything.

5 of 5 Best compact laptop for the price Monday, January 05, 2009
A Customer from Gurnee, IL
I purchased this laptop for gift for my parents. This is the best compact laptop for the price ($285 after MIR). Slick design, lightweight, good battery life. There is no Bluetooth, but this is not a problem. You can buy the next model which comes with Bluetooth. Now my wife wants one too. :-)

5 of 5 Light & Powerful Monday, January 05, 2009
Mark from Indianapolis
I agree with all the previous reviews here. Great computer - superior to Asus & Acer due to screen size & key size. The newer model with 6 cell battery is probably the way to go & there is a 9 cell battery available if you need lots of time away from the plug. Touch pad is very sensitive & scroll feature is a little different, instead of stroking the right side of the touchpad like most laptops you just touch the top right or bottom right corner to scroll up or down. I checked out the competition before buying & the MSI Wind is the most for the money.

5 of 5 Perfect Travel Computer Saturday, January 03, 2009
D. Wright from Chicago IL.
I bought this computer for travel. It is perfect for my needs. I take a lot of photos when I travel and this computer allowes me to download and edit my photos and through drug stores I can print and give the prints to my subjects who love seeing the're pohtos befor I leave. Going through the airport security is a breeze, and even on a plane I can work without disturbing my fellow passengers. We plan to take a train from chicago to Seattle this year and I will be taking this computer to read my email and edit photos I take along the way. I love this little computers light weight and bright screen. It's the perfect Travel computer.

5 of 5 Great little laptop for those on the go. Saturday, January 03, 2009
A Customer from Cincinnati, Ohio
I bought this laptop for it's size and weight, I have to take my laptop with me 5 days out of the week. It is so easy to take anywhere based on it's size and weight. The keyboard is very easy to get use to. I never have any problems with the browser fitting everything I need on it. The web cam was an added plus as I got to virtually hang out with my sister in Hawaii and my baby brother in Iraq for the holidays! I highly recommend this great little laptop for anyone considering it. I have never ran close to using all of it its memory. I did however buy a 8 GB flash drive to store all my photos and music and things like that on, even though the internal memory will hold quite a bit. There are only 2 small things I have had any problems with and again they are very minimal. 1 being when the screen is up it is a little back heavy and needs to be situated to keep it balanced, really only a problem if not using it on a hard flat surface, again not a big deal and 2 the mouse pad is a little hard to get used to, but I bought a great little wireless mouse to use most of the time, but you do get used to the laptops mouse pad after using it for awhile.

5 of 5 An excellent little computer for the average user. Friday, January 02, 2009
Robert from Ceres, CA
My son (age 10) saved his money and this year told me he wanted to buy a laptop computer. After looking really hard at capabilities and prices, and once MSI offered a $50 rebate on the purchase price, I discussed this computer with my son, telling him it would not be good for games, but would otherwise do anything internet-wise that he would need for a long time. He decided that games were not that important, so we bought it. He is very pleased with the computer, and has even managed to download World of Warcraft demo -- which runs decently! He connects on our home wireless network exclusively, and does not encounter any problems or delays. I'm actually a little jealous as the little thing has better battery life than my work provided Dell laptop, and it's far lighter weight would be easier to carry out to job sites. It appears that it will run even most of my non-graphics intensive engineering software (forget recent releases of Autocad). For the average business executive running Excel or maybe some presentation software I think this little computer would be adequate.

4 of 5 A neat, usable size for travel Wednesday, December 31, 2008
Les from Arlington, Tx
I am very pleased with the Wind netbook. It's just about the right size, fairly good viewing, nice and bright on the screen. The keyboard is somewhat difficult to use, and letters often jump down on a lower line, or disappear completely, but having attached a USB external keyboard to it solves all keyboard problems. It's certainly worth the price and even though it only stays on for about an hour and a half on battery, that's fine for what I use it for. I would give it a pretty good recommendation...seems sturdy and rugged enough. Also, it's plenty fast. Think I'll continue to like it.

5 of 5 Go for it Wednesday, December 31, 2008
dave from texas
Nice size screen. Biggest (I think) for a netbook... My daughter loves it. It boots fast and connects easily to our wireless router. We also ordered the pink acer and the blue acer. They are nice as well, but have a slightly smaller screen. This was by far the best deal, especially with the rebate. Have no fears here!

4 of 5 Great second computer Tuesday, December 30, 2008
A Customer from Bethesda, MD
It's really light, I carry it everywhere. The microphone isn't the best quality (used it with skype). Give it sometime to get used to the smaller keyboard, but it is comfortable. No CD- for me its not a big deal. I have my desktop for the heavy stuff, so this laptop is just for traveling..Overall, I'm happy with it!

5 of 5 Everything in a small bundle Tuesday, December 30, 2008
PASteve from Palo Alto, CA
This is a complete computer and the bonus is you get WinXP rather than Vista. The keyboard is very comfortable, the screen quite readable, and the speed is quite good for office applications and web surfing, email, etc. Everyone just loves the look of it too! The screen image being only 600 pixels high means a little more scrolling than "larger" laptops with their typical 800 pixel size, but that is a small price to pay for the small size and light weight.

5 of 5 Excellent Netbook Tuesday, December 30, 2008
A Customer from weatherford, tx
I bought this for my daughter over the 8.9" asus and acer mainly because of the price to features (sub $300). The 10" screen is noticeably larger and the keyboard feels relatively comfortable. It feels a little like a toy, but not cheap as some minis. The only con I can think of is the battery life with the three cells, I hear it is not much better with the six compared to the smaller screen netbooks...but you don' t have to squint as much either.

5 of 5 Awesome value Monday, December 29, 2008
A Customer from Phoenix, AZ
A hidden bonus - out of the box, the bios actually overclocks the cpu by 24% to take the computer up to 1.99MHz! Not a hack - fully supported. Also, I purchased a 2GB stick of RAM from Buy.com but I think I only needed to buy 1GB. Reason: the chipset only recognizes a total of 2GB. You have to turn off the onboard memory in the bios in order to have the 2GB chip recognized. If, instead, you purchase a 1GB chip, then I think that it recognizes 1 + 1 = 2GB and you don't have to mess with the bios. Finding Linux drivers was a little challenging, but everything works. Highly recommend this site as must read: http://msiwind.net/

5 of 5 Great little computer Monday, December 29, 2008
A Customer from Wichita, KS
We are using this to do simple spreadsheets and some single channel audio recordings with Audacity. It has plenty of horsepower and the screen is big enough to see what we are doing. This will not be a full time workstation but used a couple times a week for mobile computing. I found it with a $50 rebate to total was $300.

3 of 5 MSI U100 Wind...Good product but some issues Saturday, December 27, 2008
Matt from Kansas City, MO
The MSI Wind U100 is a light but solid laptop. Processing speed is acceptable for light Internet use and word processing. No instructions were included in the box but can be found on the Internet. Assumes some previous knowledge of a computer and its setup although little configuration is required. Various "trial" software programs on the system. Touchpad is very sensitive resulting in unintentional drag and drops. Webcam software has to be downloaded from support site. Screen size causes some interface problems with games, Yahoo mail, etc. WIFI works well and keyboard is acceptable. Battery life is at lower end due to 3 cell model. If you are on the go and looking for a computer to do simple Internet browsing, e-mail, basic word processing, online banking, etc...this is for you. Anything more, it is probably better to get a full size laptop.

5 of 5 Great Little Netbook Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Diane from Hesperia, California
This is a great, lightweight netbook. I use it to quickly access the Internet in my living room. It weighs a bit over 2 pounds and doesn't get hot on your lap like my regular laptop. My husband and I are in our late forties and have no trouble seeing the print on the large (for a netbook) 10" LCD screen. It also comes with a magifier program that can be used to make the print even larger. The touch pad is particularly easy to use so a separate mouse is probably not needed by most people. The Wind also has very fast file access time--comparable to my Dell laptop--and connects to my household WiFi quickly. However, be aware that it has a less than 2 hour battery life (but does come with a long charging cord that I just leave plugged in). It also doesn't have an optical (CD or DVD) drive or Bluetooth. Since the Wind has 3 USB ports, it is easy to attach an external optical drive to enable you to load programs on it or programs can be downloaded directly off the Internet. Overall, you can’t beat the Wind for a secondary computer especially considering the low price.

5 of 5 Well performing little thing Tuesday, December 23, 2008
A Customer from Redmond, WA
First - love the speed. It comes from suspended mode in seconds, works surprisingly fast. We have 2 major uses for it - internet browsing and video conferencing. The screen is large enought for browsing. 10" screen makes difference to me, 8" for that class is already too small. Camera and microphone quality are amazing for video conferencing. The sound from the speakers can only be compared to tin cans, headphones offer major improvement. Battery life is between 2 and 3 hours with regular use. Very convenient functional button on the keyboard to turn on/off hardware like wireless and camera when not in use. Family favorite from the first week.

5 of 5 MSI Wind Netbook To Go! Tuesday, December 23, 2008
A Customer from Sherwood, Arkansas
Arrived in two days using the free shipping now that's a deal in itself. I purchased this computor solely for it's size, low cost and wifi & webcam capability. Setup was a snap and it functions very nicely. The 10" screen is sharp and easy on the eyes. The keyboard is just the right size for my small hands. That said, I purchased a second one for my daughter for college. You need to load your own virus software which are usually available from your internet providor and word processor. Pretty nice package for $300.00 after rebate.
