The sound quality is not the greatest, but certainly at least as good as what flight controllers and aircraft use. At first, we had it sitting on carpet right above a concrete floor, where I'm guessing the re-bar in the floor caused interference, preventing it from working. Once we put it on a desk, it worked fine. Perfect for summoning the teenager when he's blasting Muse or Disturbed on his sound system! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Easy to setup, performance is flaky Wednesday, January 02, 2008 A Customer from Annapolis, MD
No installation needed, just open the box and plug it in.
Performance varies depending on where it is plugged in in the house as well as with how it is used but it sure cuts down on yelling down the stairs. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Value Wednesday, January 02, 2008 A Customer from Englewood, Florda
The units are simple to installed; just plug into an electrical outlet. The operation is very sraight forward,ie,easy to use. Our only complaint is that the transmissions have a background electrical noise. It is suspected that florescent lights may casuse the noise. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Does what it advertises Friday, November 30, 2007 Hojo from Baltimore, MD
This was very simple to setup and use. The voice quality is pretty clear (no static). For the price, it was worth it. Being that this is my first intercom system, the only issues that I have with it are: 1- The "Auto Talk" feature is extremely sensitive. If too close to the unit, a mere clearing of your throat activates the microphone. Needs a adjuster setting. 2- The unit has to be physically turned on and stay on in order to use it. With my electric bills shooting up, it would be nice if it had the ability to enter a "Energy Savings" mode, so as not to be using too much juice. Turning the unit on/off as I enter and leave each room is real pain. Not to mention that I forget often. But I guess those features are available with the $1000+ intercoms. I'll stick with the below $50 range. I'm cheap like that! Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Does Not Work! Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Springfield, MO
I purchased 4 of these (2 sets) because I was having problems with a set I purchased from Radio Shack several years ago that had stopped working. After plugging the new ones in I found that of the 4 I installed, only 2 could communite with each other. These two were located in rooms next to one another - the one in a further room on the same floor and the 4th one on the basement level would not communicate at all.
Unfortunately I did not read buy.com's fine print with a 14 day return policy (from date of shipping) and was not able to return them. I'm going to try to contact Westinghouse and see if they can provide a remedy. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Static Static Tuesday, November 27, 2007 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
I purchased this with the intention of monitoring my elderly mother down the hall , specifically at night. Therefore, I was using the auto voice activated feature. All I heard during the night was static. I did not sleep well or at peace. I would not recommend use of the one way auto lock mointoring feature. Most definetly do not recommend. 5 of 5 Nice, easy, convenient, love 'em Thursday, June 21, 2007 A Customer from Flowery Branch, GA
I have owned 2 of these units for about 2 years now, and I just purchased 4 more for my home. I have noticed that now that I have 6 units, I am getting some static. (I had none with just 2 units), but this may not be the fault of the units. These are great, just plug them in, and use them. Very nice, easy to use, no wiring required. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Highly recommended Monday, April 09, 2007 jdb from Hoover, AL
Quick delivery; Easy to use: plug in and turn on, push button to talk, or set to "auto" and talk. Bought two units, and liked them well enough to order two more. Now, no more going up / down 3 levels of stairs to talk to others in the house. Four channels for different rooms / zones.
Clear sound.
Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?

My family and I are completely satisfied with our recent purchase and installation of 4 Westinghouse intercoms. Our house is approx. 4,000 sq. ft. and the reception is absolutely amazing. We had previously purchased a comparable system from Radio Shack, but returned them within days due to the amount of static over the intercoms. There is no static whatsoever with the Westinghouse units. The system is completely expandable by simply adding any number of Westinghouse units to any AC outlet in your home. Installation just doesn't get any simpler than this! I regret not purchasing them sooner. We are even considering adding another unit to an outdoor workshop. I highly recommend these units. If you're looking for quality and affordability, these Westinghouse units are the way to go. Was this review helpful?
