I had bought this as a backup for my Mac. It worked fine, OSX found it fine and worked okay for about 13 months (12month warranty). I moved it once, a very slight move while it was on and it took a dive, just like that. If your data is important to you, then is not the drive for you. The warranty is too short and there is no power button to turn the thing off. I will avoid all WD products in the future.

Quiet, versatile, portable external drive has excellent performance due to 8MB Cache & 7200rpm speed cheaper drives do not boast. Seven months heavy use, no errors. Heat has not been a problem. No power switch for unit is a mild complaint. Kind of ugly, but doubles as a nightlight.

The drive is beautiful and worked like a charm right out of the box. It shows 232GB of space available when installed. I used the FireWire connection, and am getting excellent results moving large files. My only complaint is that the lighted case has no "dimmer switch" or switch to turn off the lighting... and it is one heck of a bright night-light!

I recently added one of these drives to my desktop system to provide additional digital photo storage. Set-up was extremely easy, truly plug-n-play. Great way to expand disk storage without cracking the case. Ability to use USB 2.0 or Firewire makes this a very versatile disk drive. Super fast transfer speeds and ease of use make this an easy upgrade decision.

250 Gig hard drive was a snap to connect, has been performing flawlessly with large digital video files, pictures and music...looks great on the desktop with the cool neon lights too !...great, great hard drive for the money !!
