This product works as advertised. I've owned it for approximately 3 weeks and haven't had any problems. Windows XP Pro recognized the drive immediately with no driver downloads (it was my first external USB hard drive). The drive is quiet and doesn't seem to radiate any significant heat. The small size of the drive and the fact that it does not require a power supply (it gets power from the USB connection) makes it ideal for users on the go.
Given an opportunity, I would definitely purchase this drive again. Was this review helpful?

This hard drive is excellent. I'm real happy with the size since I travel so much and it's fairly rugged. I think there's rubber along the edges so it might be able to withstand a few bumps. The price was right on the money (cheaper than I found everywhere else) and shopping from buy.com is ALWAYS a good experience. Was this review helpful?

Works great on my IBM T42 with XP Pro. The laptop's USB power is sufficent to run the drive.
I would suggest that you reformat the drive with NTFS before using it. Was this review helpful?

I bought the Passport to use with my PowerBook G4. It would't mount when I connected the drive with the USB cable. Called Western Digital support and was told that the PB G4 USB port does not supply enough power to run the drive. They sent me a power adapter for free. It came by UPS in 4 days. Everything else works as advertised. I'll keep the Passport as a home backup and look for a USB or firewire drive that does not need a power adapter to work with the PB. Only complaint is that I did not know beforehand, however I was very impressed with Western Digital's support. Was this review helpful?
