    After a week or so of use I am very pleased with this drive. When used as a firewire device it is very fast. On my system it is capable of copying a 700 mb file in about 30 seconds. Other users have pointed out that the "My Books" in the 400 to 500 gb range are a bit loud. I have to agree that it does add a bit of noise when running. But this is not really a problem because by pressing the disguised button in the center of the blue circle you can turn the drive on and off. You must hold the button in for a few seconds to do this. So you can easily avoid the noise except when you need access to the drive.
