    Well, you can share media files if you DON'T use the included software, but if you choose to use WD's solution, you can't share MP3's, or virtually any other video or audio file, since it might be illegally downloaded. So much for fair use. WD had a nice product, but crippled it with this restriction. Better to put together your own NAS solution.

    Wish the spec says it comes with a big power adapter. It is kind of slow, and makes a lot of noise. If you don't mind those, it is good value.

    Very useful for backing up data of my three computers at home. But unfortunately no backup software does not come with this edition (only unless you buy from a certain store of UK). I am using some other backup software for this.

    I purchased this to use as a Time Machine backup on my new iMac. It works great. It is quiet and easy to setup. The only thing is, and this is true for almost all USB drives, I wish the USB to SATA translation was a bit faster.

    Excellent drive! Truly just plug and play. A lot easier than fooling with opening the case and connecting cables. My new computer only supports SATA drives, and my old one had IDE, so rather than getting a new SATA drive, now it's portable.

    I just received this drive last week and I am very happy with it. Really easy to use, just plug it in and it is ready to go in a few moments! A great feature that I did not notice when I purchased it, is that it turns off when the USB connection is off. So if you unplugg the USB or turn off the computer, the drive powers down, so smart yet so simple! It'll take me a while to fill it up, but transfering 50GB was a snap.
