Warranty Policy:
Western Digital has adopted a new warranty policy effective October 1, 2002. Western Digital WD Caviar Special Edition hard drives are covered under warranty for a three-year period. Western Digital WD Raptor hard drives are covered under warranty for a five-year period. All other Western Digital products will be covered under a standard warranty for a period of one year. I needed a couple Identical HDD's for a simple RAID 1 NAS I was making from an old PC. I needed IDE drives and the WD 250GB drive fit exactly what I needed. I have confidence that the WD's will be reliable. The bare packaging was no issue for my use.
Delivery was amazingly fast.

This product did not come with a manual or CD for installation. I had it professionally installed into my computer and it does not work and I would like to return it but do not have any information as to where and how I should return it. After this didn't work, the installer installed one of his hard drives and it worked. I am frustrated and been very busy working long hours that I haven't had time to find out where I should return it to get a refund. I am disappointed because this was my first purchase from Buy.com and now I'm kind of sketical about purchasing computer parts online. Please provide me with a phone number and the return policy. The drive works great.
Just be sure that you get the latest BIOS updates for your computer and that you are NOT installing from an Original WinXP CD. You'll need a MINIMUM of Service Pack 1 ( SP2 would be better ) to install and have Windows during its installation see the WHOLE drive. With an original XP CD, it has a limit of 136GB and would not let you do anything more with the disk. Booted from an SP1 CD, and it saw the whole drive.

The WD2500JB is a good size drive at a great price. I've bought four over the last two months. They all arrived quickly and worked right out of the box. You just can't beat Western Digital for a quality hard drive or Buy.com for a great price. Was this review helpful?
