This drive is very good overall - it was easy to install (all screws included) and format (this might be more of Windows making it easy). The only slight problem I have with it is the noise factor. It is noticeably louder than my other internal hard drive when doing some serious file-moving, and seems to get louder randomly. This isn't too big a problem for me, but if you want a really quiet hard drive, this may not be for you.
One other thing: I didn't need to use the included CD since this drive is just supplementing hard drive space, so I wasn't booting to a disk to load an OS, etc. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good product; Poor software CD Monday, May 19, 2008

WD provided good installation support. Initially from overseas; subsequently from California once they couldn't solve the problem. They were reasonably quick determining the problem was over their head. Level 2 support discovered the their enclosed CD was damaged thus causing me to have to download data, then burn it to a CD. Then I had to download an ISO driver in order to copy DOS data into the CD in order to transfer my Windows data entirely into the new hard drive. Complex but after going thru the process with Rep #2 from their Level 2 support team, the new hard drive booted up without problem and works very well. Was this review helpful?

I have always been a fan of WD. Clear instructions and dependable drives. This one is up to that expectation. Relatively quiet and very satisfactory performance for my use. I probably could save a few bucks from another on line vendor but I have found Buy. com to have a very user friendly site and always received well packed quick deliveries with their economy delivery.
