    The Western Digital Passport is one of the greatest inventions - It is the size of my iPhone and hold 500 gigs... boy and for such a great price. That much storage so portable for that price is just plain and simple fantastic!!

    Very compact drive with no problems!!!! Works great with Western Dgital Media server too. I would recommend out of the box re-format using NTFS and getting rid of the apps pre-installed if you are not going to use them. Again, Great Drive!!!

    Hard Drive is as described on Buy.com. In this case the size mattered and I was able to carry my backups for my home computer and work computer. Would be nicer if they included a nice carrying pouch. as far as the software included I zipped it up and left it on the system if needed but XP & OS X saw the drive after the USB cable was plugged in.

    Package was well designed to protect during shipping. Product is very compact, and solid. Activity light is useful. The unit I received was formatted FAT32, which is important because it appears that Mac OS X needs extra software to write NTFS. Safe Drive Warning: I am no fan of helpful software on USB drives that starts up automatically when you plug the unit in. This is great place to communicate a virus. Indeed that is how the US military got a massive infection. Just rename the startup.ini file and the .exe's in the drive's root to something like .ini_XXX and .exe_XXX.

    After years of buying and using various brands of External hard drives. WD was not on the top of my list. Finally with this drive they have produced one that I don't mind owning. It has worked flawlessly since I have had it. It is a very good buy for the money also and at 1/4 lb is extremely light weight for carrying around in your backpack or any other case. I would recommend this drive to anyone.

    I have found the WD Portable drives to be very reliable in the past and use them for archiving images (I'm a professional photographer) They are easy to travel with and work well when I am on the road. Now they are getting so much cheaper as well so it makes even more sense. The purchase through buy.com was smooth and painless as always.
