3 of 5 Works for me Monday, July 17, 2006 Brian W from Stratford, CT
I have four of these externals. 1 at home for personal use pics, vid and music and the other 3 I bought for backups at work. I have not had trouble with any other than the original disk size. For some reason the entire disk does not show available. I would say about 15%. Otherwise I would highly recommend. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works like a charm Thursday, June 22, 2006 A Customer from Freehold, NJ
Had many, many WD drives, and I have never had any problems with them. I've had this one 4 months, and no problems. Runs like a champ Was this review helpful?

After 6 weeks I started having trouble writing to this backup drive. Now it neither writes nor reads and is completely dead. I have sensitive proprietary data on the drive so the warranty is useless as I can't send it back. I have two others of WD's drives which work well however, some say 2 out of three ain't bad, but it doesn't help when dollars are lost so quickly. Was this review helpful?

I'd go with Seagate, namely SCSI, or SATA (make sure it has min 3- 5yr warranty ...just in case, but you'll probably not need it).
I've had my SCSI Cheetah 15,000 RPM drives for almost 4 YEARS+ running everyday, with no flaws or breakdowns...
Talk about quality and performance!!!
Suggestion: Go with Seagate, and if ya can afford SCSI or even faster interfaces from them, go for it:) its workth every penny. Was this review helpful?

It's been twp years since I have purchased a Western Digital hard drive. I had two WD drives go dead on me (within a month) back-to-back, and that scared me off of them.
I decided to give them one more try with their new external drives.
The delivery by Buy.com was great - fast and well packaged.
However, the drive was dead upon arrival. Not only that, but WD's e-mail support (I wanted to check with them before I returned) has yet to respond to my e-mail query. It is now 5 days and counting. I finally called them and they told me to return it to buy.com.
WD has proven to me, for three drives running, that they produce a very inconsistent product. Was this review helpful?
