    While in some ways, I think the WD MyBook Pro II is a better built unit than the Studio II version, it is certainly a good value and reliable storage unit. All cables are included, which gives you a great interface with compatible sockets on your computer. My backup's covered about 1.8 TB, so I transferred it in chunks that would not overwhelm my single core CPU, or the hard drive. It is fairly well ventilated. But, it was still a help to have a fan and an open window next to the unit for a little extra cooling. The smaller case sized 2TB brands have a problem with over heating, in my experience. Would definitely recommend the WD MyBook Pro II, or WD MyBook Studio II version for occasional storage use, and not as a full time dedicated storage solution.
