5 of 5 Excellent quality bag Saturday, August 29, 2009
A Customer from New York, NY

This is my second Wagner backpack. A am extremely pleased with my Wagner Synergy, so I decided to purchase the Pegasus backpack as well. The quality of this product is as superb as that of the Synergy. Probably the most striking features of the bag are 1) the thick wire running through the handle and 2) it's size. However, while taller than the Synergy, it is also narrower (back to front) -- There is probably a bit less of a chance of getting stopped an an airport with this one. I prefer the material handle on the Synergy, but the thick, soft handle on the Pegasus is not bad and feels durable. I also like the compartment organization a little better on the Synergy, which can probably fit a few more volumes of Tolstoy's War and Peace than the Pegasus... In short, this is a fantastic backpack, and the only reason that I gave the Pegasus a 4 for organization is in comparison to the Synergy. I highly recommend this product.

    5 of 5 Best Bag I've had Friday, August 28, 2009
    A Customer from Richardson Texas
I'm a field tech for HP, and just love this bag. I can carry my laptop, server parts, HDs, organizer, label maker and much more. The padding is great, I can literally just chunk my bag into my car and go handle my service calls with no worries. The only thing I did not like was the chest strap, I don't use it so it just dangled everywhere I went.. (I cut it off) I never considered this brand before but I saw a co-worker with one and just had to get me one as well.

    5 of 5 Amazing! Tuesday, May 05, 2009
    Rohit from New York
Pros: Looks and feels strong. Can hold the laptop and all accessories that go along with it - CDs, drives, folders, etc. Has enough room for everything you need to carry to work/school/college. Cons: Falls into the high end product price range. But 'Buy' has a good discount on it. Comments: Fits my 16 inch widescreen Sony perfectly with a bit of additional room left around it. Very comfortable to carry. The padding at the back feels strong.

    3 of 5 really doesn't fit my 17" laptop Friday, April 03, 2009
    A Customer from Bethlehem, PA
I bought this laptop bag because I own a Toshiba Satellite X205. There is a special compartment for the laptop that has extra padding in it but my laptop will not fit inside it. I was pretty disappointed when I got it. The space next to the laptop compartment however is big enough for my laptop and i have been using it for 6 months now and the bag is rugged, looks nice, and has held up very well.

5 of 5 Pat on the back Monday, March 09, 2009
    Shook from Washington, PA
Thats right SwissGear, give yourselves a pat on the back. For this is a very well made and durable backpack at the price. At first I wasn't sure if my new laptop was gonna fit since the specs of the backpack say you can only fit up to a 17" screen at max(I am asuming this is a diaginal measuerement of the screen only). Well I am sure it depends on the laptop overall dimensions(width/depth/thinkness) and not just the screen size, which worried me even more becuase my laptop is an 18.4"diaginal widescreen HD LCD -screen only- (17.5" straight across including frame). Not to mention this particular laptop has very large barrel hinges. Turns out it was a bit tight at first but now the backpack has stretched and everything fits just right.

    5 of 5 Awesome Backpack!! Monday, March 09, 2009
    Nizzam from Laurel, MD
I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I really like it! It fits my Dell D-820 nice, and school books too. It can get heavy, but that's probably because I load it up with so much stuff. It is rugged, and very well padded. I think that is my favorite feature, all the padding! Overall I would recommend this backpack. It will nice to not have to carry a backpack, and a laptop case with me anymore when I travel!

4 of 5 Great laptop bag, but not the best from SwissGear Saturday, March 07, 2009
    Michael from Columbus, Ohio
I have owned 3 different laptop backpacks: one from Targus and two from SwissGear. This 17" laptop backpack is good, but not great. It barely fits my 17" HP laptop. The top of the laptop hits the zippers as I close the backpack. I like the fact that the backpack can stand on its own. This is really a great feature. This backpack lacks a lot of the bells and whistles of my other SwissGear backpack that I bought from Sam's Club such as the headphone jack and versatility of many different pockets. Plus this backpack is not as stylish as the other SwissGear backpack Overall I give this backpack a B+.

5 of 5 Great Christmas Gift Saturday, January 03, 2009
    Jables from Morton, IL
I bought this backpack as a Christmas gift for my wife based on the reviews that I read plus the appearance of the bag. In short, I was not disappointed. She loves the bag. It holds her 17" Dell Laptop and all accessories easily and it not very heavy and bulky. I highly recommend it.

5 of 5 Outstanding Laptop Case / Great Quality Saturday, December 27, 2008
    KB from Orlando, FL
If you have a 17" laptop and would like a backpack style case, I suggest taking a look at this one. High quality, durable materials were used throughout. Sleek design. Useful pockets hold and secure everything from the laptop, to my spare battery, to books and files to accessories and wires. There is plenty of room for everything. When we travel by air, I can fit my wife's 15.4" laptop and her accessories too. The weight is comfortably distributed on your shoulders and the shoulder straps have built in shock absorbtion that help when you have it packed with equipment. Wenger got it right. Excellent Job.

    5 of 5 Excellent Backpack Thursday, December 18, 2008
John from Long Island, New York
This is an excellent well built backpack. Equipment inside feels well protected and secure. When I read reviews prior to purchasing this I noted that there were some comments about some 17" laptops not fitting well, so I bought this with that in mind as my own is a 15.4" laptop and it fits very well. One thing any potential buyer should be aware of is that it is NOT light. Fully loaded it gets heavy quick. However, I was able to fit a lot of gear inside, including a mini power strip, extension cord, headset, flashlight, pda, cell phone, a small 20+ piece tool kit, some flash drives and even a folding base for the laptop

    5 of 5 Exactly what I wanted! Thursday, November 13, 2008
    Devin from Guyton, GA
Being a 23 year old male headed back to school and needing my laptop with me, I decided to purchase a bag. I chose a business major and thought my bag should reflect as much as well as keeping the bag functional for me outside of school as well. Looks, comfort, and it fits my rather large Dell perfectly. 100% satisfied with my purchase. Also, everyone thinks it's a $200+ bag and I got it for way less!

    5 of 5 Excellent Backpack Friday, October 31, 2008
    A Customer from Seward, NE
I haven't owned the computer backpack long enough to know how durable, but based upon the construction details I gave it the benefit of the doubt and rated it a 5. Overall, I have loved the the storage capacity and organization of the backpack. Being able to share the load of the laptop and all of my documents and supplies across two shoulders rather than one has helped my back immensely. I have a co-worker who has owned this same backpack for 10 months and has no complaints either. It has been an excellent purchase to this point and Buy.com's prices are fantastic as well.

    5 of 5 great backpack Monday, October 27, 2008
    cindy from duncan, oklahoma
I purchased this backpack to take on a trip to China. It is very comfortable, holds a lot and has lots of places to stow things. I had to leave it in China as my son who lives and works there wanted it and had not been able to find anything as nice in China. I am going to get another one for my future use.

    4 of 5 Pretty Good Thursday, October 23, 2008
    Vivek from Mountain View, CA
The bag is pretty good and feels really strong and durable. But the bag is heavy even without having put anything inside it. Additionally, it does not feel too heavy when it is hanged over the shoulders. 17" laptops also do fit in it pretty comfortably. As to the organization aspect it does not have too much space to have more than one thick book. But it is a good bag in an overall sense. I would give it a rating between 3.5 to 4. One additional point, buying it on Buy.com was a lot cheaper (at least by $25) which was really nice.

    5 of 5 Still going... Friday, October 17, 2008
A Customer from Las Cruces, NM
Ok, so here is a real review from someone who has been using this product. I have used this backpack for college since January of 2006, including summer sessions. It has been through rain, snow, heat and travelled with me as well. Here is a run down of the pros and cons: PROS Redistributes weight well taking a lot of strain off your back. Spacious and pockets to hold loose papers. Reinforced handle is VERY secure, mine has taken a lot of abuse. Big zippers that don't break and rarely catch (except for the center compartment, more below.) Quick adjust straps make quick walks to class a breeze. CONS The plastic comfort grip around the main reinforced handle hardened after one summer and has begun to fall off, about half has fallen off my bag. The quick adjust straps have loops made of a similar plastic and they too have since broken off. The center compartment zipper catches if its opened all the way, but it rarely needs to be completely opened. The snap to hold the laptop inside its own compartment has broken off as well, I just cut out the elastic strap, the zipped up compartment works very well to protect my laptop. Overall the bag is amazingly tough, near indestructable. Although a lot of the aesthetics of the bag do fall or break off, the bag itself has lasted me longer than any other bag. I'm a Chemistry major and I can say that the bag can take a multitude of chemicals (nothing insane, but it can take a splash of HCl or H2SO4, that I can say for sure.) Hope that helps.

5 of 5 Value for your money. Friday, October 10, 2008
    Shashank from Atlanta, GA
I am going to go over the different things I look for in a backpack (hopefully these match yours), so you can get an idea of what to expect. 1. Space - Plenty, several pockets, zipper sections, pockets within pockets, there. My Macbook Pro 17" easily fits into this. You can also probably fit another 15" laptop in here. 2. Comfort - the padding on the back of the backpack is really good, very sturdy and comfortable. 3. mp3 - Yes there's a pocket for your iPod/ mp3 player, but no port for the headphones on the side. This is because this version of this backpack model is not the latest one. My neighbor bought the latest one and paid 20 bucks more than me for it (from the Mac store). For a little mp3 port, I am not worried, I still save 20 bucks. 4. organization - very well organized I thought, there's space for really everything for a college kid (I'm not one) and there's enough space for the vacationer as well. 5. Water bottle - That's a snug fit on the side (a good thing). I dont want my water bottle falling out. The only con that I have with it is it's appearance. They could have made it look a little better in the front. The best pro about it is that it is 150% functional in all aspects.

    5 of 5 Best Backpack for 17" Laptops Thursday, October 02, 2008
A Customer from San Clemente, CA
I searched extensively for backpacks to hold a 17" laptop. There weren't many that were high quality. This one meets that requirement and is very durable and well organized. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the handle is very durable. I just cant get used to the waist strap which is optional. You won't be disappointed if you get this. Wenger does it again.

5 of 5 Wenger trumps JanSport! Thursday, September 25, 2008
    Bob from Lakewood, Colorado
Recently, due to the acquisition of a new 17" notebook computer, I needed to replace an aging JanSport Merit backpack. I ordered a new Merit, and once placed side-by-side with my older version, I was shocked to find the difference in quality. The older version, manufactured in Taiwan, seemed to be of military quality compared to the new version manufactured in China. The new version is manufactured with material that is cheap and thin, the zippers feel like aluminum -- overall, JanSport lost a customer. I took a chance on the Wenger Pegasus in the hopes that it would provide me with the quality and fit that JanSport now fails to offer, and I was not disappointed! For roughly $10US more over the cost of the Merit, the Pegasus provides solid protection for my computer, plenty of storage for my needs, and a stylish, European look. I highly recommend this product to anybody looking for the best combination of price and quality in the computer backpack market.

    4 of 5 still great after 6 months Friday, September 19, 2008
    DS from ATX
Excellent design and durability. All seams are strong after 6 months of heavy use. Only weak point is that there is a slight lack of padding and protection at the zipper. If something hits in the wrong spot the only protection is the zipper itself - there should be some padding in this area.

    5 of 5 I LOVE THIS BAG!! Monday, August 25, 2008
April from New Orleans, LA/Las Vegas, NV
It fits everything! Even the annoying laptop power cord, that never had a place in my old messenger bag style laptop bag, fits snug and unnoticed in a side pocket. I flew with this bag and couldn't be happier. I managed to fit my laptop and accessories as well a 3 hard cover books, 2 notbooks, 4 magazines, my webcam, 3 mp3 players (don't ask), micro speakers, digital camera, cds, manuals, chargers, plus all my little odds and ends. It was heavy. You don't even feel it when it's on your back, however, and it should no signs of giving way, tearing, stretching, nothing. And when you put it down, god bless, it stands on it's own! It's a little hard to carry an over the shoulder purse with, but next time I plan to just throw that stuff in my backpack and forget the purse. I saved $30 buying it on buy.com.

5 of 5 The backpack to have! Friday, July 11, 2008
    A Customer from Boston, MA
This is the backpack to have. It has all the compartments that you will ever need. Very durable and comfortable to wear. Im not sure if the bag is waterproof, however, i sprayed my bag with a stain protector/waterproofing spray just to be on the safe side. i highly recommend! The only thing to me is that it looks full even if you dont have anything in it! No worries, as long as that it is built tough and look tough.

This backpack is just too bulky, big, and heavy for what I need. The quality is there but for the price of carrying around a hummer. The base is very bulky and stick out like a sore thumb...I've seen other backpack that can accomplish the same quality, spaciousness, and style without looking bulky and heavy....example: Ogio Urboe. Sorry, I'm not riding on this Peagsus

5 of 5 Built to last! Saturday, June 07, 2008
    Drew from Bend, OR
I bought this backpack from buy.com after checking it out at the local Officemax, which was selling it for $30 more than buy.com. I wasn't even looking to buy a laptop backpack until this one caught my eye. This thing is built like a tank. The zippers are thick and strong. There are more than enough protective pockets to separate your laptop, accessories, books, pens, mp3 player, and even a lunch. The cooler pocket is a unique and very useful touch. The pack will stand up on its own because of the bottom. The padding and the straps are great for anyone that rides or walks a lot in the heat. Not only is it really comfortable with the very well designed padding and shock absorbing straps, it also allows air to circulate on your back so you don't get all sweaty. There is also a removable pouch that is kind of like a bonus bag. For a college student like myself always on the go, there is simply no better choice for packing around a laptop and all your gear. Not many bags are made for a 17"in laptop and non are built as good as this one.

    5 of 5 fantastic knapsack Monday, May 26, 2008
    LDB from Falmouth, MA
Took it to Europe; stable, comfortable and with plenty of space. The multiple pockets accommodated all my various electronics, information and documents for traveling and clothing. It stands up on its own. I can use it when I work overnight and carry clothes, laptop with ventilating base (a 12" ibook), portable printer, assorted books and work materials -- with room to spare.

    5 of 5 I like it! Saturday, May 24, 2008
    Marc C from Atlanta, GA
GENERAL: I’m a road warrior geek with a heavy Lenovo T61p and need to carry my power cord, mouse, diabetes blood sugar testing kit, medication, Ethernet cables, switch, notepad, pens, over-the-ear noise cancelling headset, cell phone charger, sunglasses, mp3 player, various cables, paperback and a few industry magazines. Is it a tight fit? Yes, it is a bit, but then again, I’ve got a lot of stuff in there and have room to spare if needed. PROS: Size, durability and comfort padding. What I really like though is the black horizontal strap at the top of the shoulder straps (not the carry handle, which is pretty solid too). That little strap hitches nicely onto my roller-wheel carryon suite case making brisk movement with a heavy a load a breeze. CONS: It’s a tight squeeze to get water bottles into the 2 external side pockets.

5 of 5 Great Computer Backpack - Great Deal Friday, May 02, 2008
    real1056 from Columbia, SC
I did a good bit of research of backpacks that could hold 17" laptops and based on reviews on this site and the others I purchased the Swiss Gear Pegasus. I was a little concerned that some were saying their 17" laptop was a tight fit but my Gateway 17" MX8738 fit perfectly, i.e. was not pushing the top of the zippered pocket as others had concerns about. It also has good room for additional books or accessories and an overall good balance of size versus capacity so it does not feel like it is too big or bulky for everyday use. It seems to be a quality product so I would bet this can take some wear and tear. I also like the steel cabled re-enforced carrying handle on the top of the bag. The water bottle pocket on the side holds the 500mL water bottles fine but anything bigger would probably not fit. Buy.com had the best price I could find on the internet when you factor in the free shipping. I chose the 3-5 day shipping which was something like an additional $4.50 but I ordered the backpack late Tuesday evening and received it on Friday - so quick turnaround. Overall, I would highly recommend this product based on my initial inspection of it - it also looks cool too which is good because I am not much of a backpack type of person.

    5 of 5 Almost Perfect Wednesday, April 30, 2008
    DS from ATX
Seemingly very well made. Only qualm: Not enough padding near top of bag in the zipper area leaves laptop somewhat susceptible to damage if bumped directly on that area. It is not like the laptop is completely enclosed in padding, which I feel it should be.

5 of 5 The Answer to my 17" problem! Friday, April 25, 2008
    Trevionni from Los Angeles, CA
I've owned many laptops, but always 12.1-15.4" in size. When I recently purchased my 17" HP DV9000, I "thought" it wouldn't be much bigger, and would fit into my 15.4 inch bag...right! I own 3 Wenger backpacks/cases, and love the quality of their products. Read a review on buy.com which mentioned the same HP I'd just purchased, so I ordered the bag. Another GREAT bag from Wenger! What can I say that others haven't? Med student, so my books are hefty and 3 or more inches thick. This back comforts the load! Highly recommend any Wenger bag, this being the best choice for a 17" notebook! P.s. Got it next day with 2 day shipping!

    5 of 5 Great backpack Thursday, April 17, 2008
Jes Martinez from Long Beach, CA
It is very comfortable that I find myself carrying it on even if I can just set it down or hold it as a suitcase. The padding is very comfortable. It fits my 17" widescreen laptop and much more. I've used it as a gym bag as a carry-on a flight and has places for everything from an Ipod, books, extra change of clothes, keys, headphones, etc. It's got plenty of zippers and compartments to keep everything neatly separated. At first it seemed pretty heavy (compared to my past regular backpack), but with all the padding it's just comfortable strapping it on your back. I'm now used to it (just 3 weeks later) and love it! Not sure of the durability since I haven't had it for long, but it seems very durable; the main handle on top even has wire in it... it's not going to tear or rip apart anytime soon.

5 of 5 Excellent backpack for a decent price Tuesday, April 08, 2008
Gerard J. Stoop from St Petersburg, FL
This backpack is very well made. My only comment is the curve in the zipper on the main compartment. It tends to stick a bit if the backpack is not in a perfect position. However, the quality of the zippers is excellent. My Toshiba Satellite 17 inch laptop fits perfectly, is easy to pack / unpack and well protected. I use this backpack mainly for traveling, particularly in aircraft. It fits very well in the overhead compartment and it is easyly accessible. Lots of space for a windbreaker, a sweater, gloves, socks, undies, toiletries, accessories, documents, books, newspapers and a handy bag for cables and other small stuff. Lots of clever little pockets and even a well padded bag on top for a headset (Skype rules). The front compartment is ideal for phone(s), PDA, MP3 and other gadgets. It also has a zippered pocket inside for passport and tickets. It stands up by itself and I think it looks really good. Even at 60 I don't look like an old hippie with this backpack (I hope). I had it packed full, over 25 lbs and jogged from one end of Atlanta airport to the other without having to slow down or re-adjust and not only survived, but made my connection. Great product.

    4 of 5 a bit too big Tuesday, April 08, 2008
A Customer from Falls Church, Virginia
This is an excellent backpack in terms of protection for a laptop. It's way too big and bulky for my purposes, however. I'm a court reporter and I could never carry something this big into a court or lawyer's office. Even though my laptop would be well-protected and I could take my whole office with me. I'm thinking of using it on a trip I'm taking this summer as a carry-on. Be careful to read Buy.com's instructions on their free shipping items. I was charged shipping although the item was advertised as free shipping. They refunded when I complained but to avoid the inconvenience, be sure to read all instructions.

    5 of 5 Excellent bag Tuesday, April 08, 2008
    Scott Moritz from Franklin, NC
Based on other favorable reviews I picked up this bag. Using it with a Dell 1720 and the standard battery the fit is perfect - with plently of room around the corners. Using the extended life battery causes a bit more of a tight scenario, but still nothing to report negatively upon. Plenty of room in this bag. Loads of comfort in this bag as well. Picked it up to use when commuting by motorcycle but liked it so much I ditched the regular Targus case I normally use for full-time usage of this one. Would recommend as a cost-effective buy even at a 50% higher price than what it currently lists for. You shouldn't be disappointed with this bag if you need one to accomodate a 17" screen.

5 of 5 My best laptop backpack ever Friday, March 28, 2008
    Sharpaschtinic Freudenthal from Cambridge, MA
I bought this backpack for my HP DV9000, a 17" widescreen laptop. The most important aspect for me is that this laptop fits just perfectly in it! The backpack is also very comfortable on shoulders (with its shock absorber technology) and back (with nice padding). There are plenty of compartments for me to organize my stuff: books (I carry them all the time - I am a grad student), writing instruments, my ipod, as well as CD's (I occasionally carry one or two). The appearance is nice enough that I don't mind carrying it when going for a business visit. Plus, I got a terrific deal on Buy.com, for which this is a steal!

5 of 5 My Entire Office on My Back!!! Thursday, March 27, 2008
    brody from Louisville, KY
This is THE best solution for your mobile computing needs! My 17" Toshiba WIDESCREEN fits in the secured sleeve with ease. The pictures don't do this pack justice - right now I have more crap stuffed in this pack then I have time to list. THE BEST FEATURE IS A "QUICK POCKET" ON THE TOP FRONT - it allows you to stow items you want easy access to like MP3/media players, BlackBerry, cell phones, etc. - the pocket isn't deep so you don't have to dig for what you tuck in there! Don't be worried about this pack being uncomfortable - the "cushioned straps" & the "air flow back" really work and live up to the hype. BUY THIS PACK & YOU WON'T BE SORRY !!!

    4 of 5 WOW! Friday, March 21, 2008
    Dan F from Plantation, FL
This is a really heavy duty laptop backpack. It has lots of cushioning and plenty of pockets for storage. Holds my 15" Thinkpad securely. In fact this is the second one I had to buy since my fiancee took my original one for her 17" Macbook. Great price too! Seen it in the "Office" stores for $70-$80.

5 of 5 Great Bag for big laptops Thursday, March 20, 2008
    rae from Norman, OK
I have had this backpack for 1 month and am truly in love with it. It fits my square cornered 17" widescreen HP Pavilion dv8000 laptop no problem which is amazing. My laptop is 15.6" wide and the zipper for the laptop pocket could probably fit a laptop up to 16" wide. One annoying thing to this bag is the small water bottle pockets on the side. I really had to stretch it to fit a 20oz. bottle in it. Otherwise this is a great bag that feels comfortable on my shoulders and back even with my 8lb. laptop and 4-6lb of other gear in it. *One should note this is really only a laptop backpack as the large non-laptop compartment fills up with just two 1.5" binders or a thick textbook. This bag is not for those people who carry a library on their backs.* However I would gladly buy another of these bags if I ever need to replace my current one, because it makes me feel confident in my laptop's protection inside the thick padding.

4 of 5 Big on the outside... Tuesday, March 18, 2008
    jjmcgaffey from Alameda, CA
It's a very good computer backpack - it offers serious protection and holds my (largish, oldish) laptop easily. However, it's not designed to hold a lot besides computers. The computer pocket easily holds my laptop, power supply, coolpad, etc. The padding is good and solid, and there would be room for a few more things if I wanted to carry them. However, for some weird reason the zipper for that compartment curves forward and then down at the ends, and it's already (I bought it a month ago) misaligned at the corner. At the best, it weakens the zipper. The second compartment is very small - the padding between it and the computer compartment and it and the organizer compartment squeezes it in thickness. I can keep a book and a small bag in there; two books cause trouble, and it will just about (with serious squeezing) hold a sweatshirt along with the book and bag. Not designed to hold much. The organizer compartment is not bad - the specific arrangement of pockets doesn't suit what I need (no pen holders!) but they're large and assorted enough to work. Again, rather tight. The quick pocket above the organizer is, again, moderately useful. I don't carry an MP3 player, so don't use the one separate pocket in there, but it's small enough that stuff is reasonably easily found. I'd really like a small zippered pocket in there - oh well. The straps are well-padded but rather broad - I'm not a small woman but I find they press on my neck or feel precariously far out more often than not. The padding on the back is pretty good, and will probably help keep me cool when it gets hot - but the arrangement is rather odd (the bar across the top also presses on my neck). It is quite large, though not excessively bulky. Heavy for a backpack, but not too heavy to carry, and when in place on my back it's perfectly comfortable. The (small) internal frame that lets it sit upright even empty is rather neat. Summary - Large, idiosyncratically arranged backpack with relatively little space inside (much more than most messenger bags, much less than my cheapie, barely-padded, 15-year-old Eastpak). Decently functional even if it doesn't suit you perfectly.
