5 of 5 Overall I have been very satisfied Tuesday, September 23, 2008 A Customer from Brandon, Fl
I did not purchase the Webroot software here, I have had it over a year now and when I bought it from the company directly the only product that they were offering was the Spy Sweeper application which at the time was the best rated one out there for the stand alone applications. Norton security suite 2007 was the overall best rated at the time for the complete security suites. When I bought Spy Sweeper I purchased a 3 year license that covered 3 pc's in my network. Over time Webroot introduced their anti virus application as well as the firewall and now have combined them into a suite. Since I had a 3 year license they let me upgrade to the other applications when they were made available. Overall I have been very pleased with the application as well as Webroots tech support, I did find their firewall a little flaky so stopped using it. Unlike the reviewer who threw out the baby with the bathwater and went back to using the Windows Live OneCare, what a weird decision I just went back to using the firewall I had been using. I personally do not trust anything that Microsoft puts out, especially when it comes to pc security. It is because of their lousy OS design that we consumers have to keep buying anti virus, spyware etc products!
Oh you might wonder what I am using for my firewall, well I went back to using the free firewall called COMODO and more recently have used an old pc and built a dedicated Linux box firewall with active intrusion detection.
In my opinion you cannot go wrong with purchasing the Webroot product, especially at this price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy to install, easy to use Tuesday, July 08, 2008 A Customer from Keller, TX
Like it better than Norton AV especially on email scanning, NAV takes an awful long time. It does take up a minute or two to check and download updates every time during bootup. Besides that I am happy with it.
BTW, always like to buy from buy.com. Always fast - having a distribution center across town helps. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy to Install Monday, February 04, 2008 A Customer from Seattle, WA
Finally, someone has an antivirus that non-computer geeks can install! This is so easy, just follow the on-screen instructions. I had trouble installing Norton last year, and this was half the price. I'd heard positive things about Webroot so I decided to give it a try. It updates automatically which is very convenient. So far, so good. Was this review helpful?

I purchased Webroot Antivirus with Spysweeper and Firewall 5.5 because of the reputation of Webroot's Antispyware software and the Sophos reputation in the Antivirus community. After installing the software I did some test against the firewall using ShieldsUp. To my surprise and disappointment, the Webroot Firewall left two ports open on my computer; ports 135 and 705. I have used other firewall software and have never found any open ports. I am running Vista Home Premium and after checking my Security Center, it listed the Webroot software as Spysweeper with antivirus, and it did show that I had a firewall in place. What I came to realize is that, the Webroot software seems to be no more than the old Spysweeper with Antivirus, with an added firewall program. In my opinion, the firewall software is weak and that is an area that should be the strongest. My solution was to shelve the Webroot software and go back to using Windows Live OneCare, which I've never had a problem with and it has protected my computer very efficiently and effectively in the past. I'll just chalk this up to experience and stick to what I know. Was this review helpful?
