5 of 5 Fantastic design Wednesday, November 12, 2008 Slikk from Hope, ND
This grill is the best of both worlds. The propane assist makes ignition a breeze (one time the propane died on me during ignition and I had to re-lite it). The built-in thermometer, tool handles (3), table, and char bin all make this as convenient and easy to use as any gas grill. The ash pan is very well designed. There is no reason to clean it manually as the vent mechanism pushes the ashes into the pan. It also releases and attaches very easily. I've read complaints about the "cheap" plastic table. It is not plastic. It is a resin material that is very durable, easy to clean, and will not rust or corrode in any way. The lack of a handle is a non issue as it can easily be handled with the the table top (on a concrete surface).
I love this grill and highly recommend it to any charcoal fanatic such as myself. If you are in a hurry, the propane grills will get your food cooked faster. It still takes about 20 minutes to warm up the coals to cooking temp. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome grill Saturday, July 26, 2008 JOE from sacramento,ca
I have the previous design, which incorporated only the Propane tank that needed to be refilled. I'm glad that this feature now includes the disposable tanks you can buy at the store as it was difficult finding spots to refill the non-standard gas tank.
I do not use the charcoal baskets that are included, I find that it is easier to lay a layer of briquets flat over the bottom grill itself.
My design also has the prep surface as stainless, it looks like this surface is plastic.
I also do NOT see handles that are used to push/pull this unit as it is not exactly easy to maneuver. .
Remember, the gas units are only used to ignite the charcoal, NOT as a source of heat for cooking. -1Star Was this review helpful?

I bought this unit about 2 years ago. 1st, the ash catcher is the best Weber ever made; would never buy a grill without this feature. The ashes never have a chance to blow away. I don't use the propane starter, I prefer using a chimney starter which is very easy to start the charcoal. The work table is the best feature of this unit; gives ample work space and staging area. The entire unit is easy to clean and maintain. The charcoal basket (under the table) makes it convenient to have everything I need (work gloves, charcoal, newspaper for the chimney starter). The entire unit fits into my outdoor shed so I keep the elements away from this unit, which I expect will last me forever! Was this review helpful?
