 Editor's Note
When CBS debuted its new series THE WALTONS in 1972, no one was prepared for the level of success it reached. Telling the story of a large family living on Walton's Mountain during the Great Depression, the series tackles universal themes that continue to ring true to this day. Told from the perspective of John Boy (Richard Thomas), an aspiring writer who makes his way through college and into adulthood, THE WALTONS is a timeless work of entertainment. The seventh season takes the show fully into the World War II era as the family grieves over the death of grandpa, Elizabeth moves to Charlottesville, Ben marries, and Curt dies in the bombing of Pearl Harbor. A great series about family, and a look back at changing American times, this collection presents every episode of the seventh season.

| | Professional Reviews | DVD Verdict 9 of 10 The Waltons had a successful run by any measure. It was critically acclaimed, earning a flotilla of Emmy and Golden Globe nods over the years. It was long lived, spanning almost ten years in its nine-season run. Most important, though, was its extensive and loyal fan base, which allowed the show's ratings to flourish in a time when fluorescent gel bracelets and preppy clothes ruled the day...If you have even the slightest interest in family television, you could do much worse than The Waltons. It doesn't always go for the obvious neat ending, which causes you to think about the people and events in ways you didn't expect. The stories aren't always sweet, but the overall tone of the show is. Best of all, you and your family might actually absorb some of The Waltons' care, respect, and good humor. - Rob Lineberger
