The End of the Dinosaurs Was Only the Beginning!

Features: DVD

Sixty-five million years ago, the dinosaurs disappeared from the Earth. But they did not leave an empty planet behind them. A succession of extraordinary creatures came and went over the following millennia. How much do we really know about these fascinating beasts?

The award-winning team behind Walking with Dinosaurs and Allosaurus invites you to take a trip through a strange new world where flightless terror birds as tall as a man kill with a single snap of their powerful beaks. Early ancestors of man struggle for power and territory as they try to defend themselves from the famous saber-toothed tiger. And even the saber-tooth cannot take on the Glyptodon - the massive two-ton armadillo that is the most heavily armored mammal ever.

It's an extraordinary trip through history and evolution that begins with the end of the dinosaurs and ends with the rise of even more mysterious creatures: the first humans. So take the journey. Come walking with Beasts!

"...based on the best research available...any prehistory fan 7 or older should enjoy this series."  Gary W. Tooze, DVD Beaver
"...chock full of violence, death action and sex, all in the name of education. You've gotta love it."  Inside Out Film
"...brilliantly crafted. Educational and entertaining, you just can't beat it. Highly recommended."  NeedCoffee.com

Editor's Note

This nature documentary uses animation and hours of researched facts to attempt to recreate the age between the extinction of the dinosaurs and the dawn of the modern human. Among the most intriguing creatures are giant flightless birds, the saber-toothed tiger and the many predecessors to human beings. An incredible document of beasts generally passed over in evolutionary studies with amazing animation.

Beasts! Beasts with teeth. Beasts with claws. Beasts with claws and teeth. Do you get the idea? This disc is chock full of violence, death action and sex, all in the name of education. You've gotta love it...Walking With Beasts is a documentary for the modern age and is concerned with one thing and one thing only - keeping you in your seat. That's all this BBC series and its predecessor, Walking With Dinosaurs, are about. It's a chance for the TV effects department to go wild with the cheque book and really show what they can do and the result - no doubt about it - is spectacular...This show is part of a spate of historical education programmes using CGI to capitalise upon the "OOH" and "AHH" factors. We've seen similar techniques used in bringing ancient cities back to life in the most spectacular of fashions. As audience figures show, this approach has worked fantastically well, demonstrating that we are easily distracted by the bright lights of computer animation...Walking With Beasts is more entertainment than education, but don't let that put you off. It makes riveting viewing.

5 of 5 Very Good Wednesday, June 12, 2002
Eric from Michigan

This movie was very good. It showed what old animals used to look like and it told you info. on them. It showed many timezones when different animals ruled the earth. It looked so real.
