| Author Bio| Rosario Ferre | | Ferre was born into a wealthy Puerto Rican family. Her father is a former governor of Puerto Rico who founded the pro-statehood New Progressive Party. Ferre began learning English at as a child, in a Roman Catholic school in Puerto Rico, and later taught and lived in the United States. She began by writing her books in Spanish, but switched to English so she could reach a wider audience. Known as a feminist, a satirist, and an insightful literary critic, Ferre has a B.A. in English literature from Manhattanville College and advanced degrees from the University of Puerto Rico and the University of Maryland. |
