4 of 5 VTech VT5883 5.8 GHz Phone Thursday, January 22, 2009 Timothy Russell from DeWitt, MI
So far I think that this product is very good. My only complaint is that when we receive a call, you have to actually send it to one of the other phones for another person to talk on one of the other phones? It's just something that we'll have to get used to. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 V-TECH PHONES Thursday, January 15, 2009 A Customer from K,.C., MO
Great value and great phones. All the phones work throughout the house and teh basement as well. A few problems getting used to a new phone, but now everything is working to my satisfaction. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good phone for the price Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Cedil from Denham Springs, LA
I am really happy with the purchase of this phone set. I was able to put phones in places I don't have jacks which is extremely convenient. Setup was quick and easy with a short learning curve. One thing I found to be helpful was to have the names and numbers written down before I started programming the phonebook/speed dial. If I had to point out an annoyance is that you have to have to program each handset separately, but once I had programmed one, it was cinch doing the rest. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great price & all 4 phones work well Friday, January 09, 2009 Mike from Concord, NH
The price paid for these phones can't be beat. These 4 phones replace 3 GE phones that lost their display pixles after 2 years. Like the previous review, I too live in a raised ranch home with the base unit on the main (upper) level. My basement extention works fine like the other 3 on the main level. I highly recommend the purchase of this 4 phone system. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Great Value, Performance Falls Short Monday, January 05, 2009 DB from Park Ridge, IL
The price paid for these phones can't be beat. However, the performance and features of these phones misses the mark. My biggest complaint is the range of the phones. I have the base on the main level of a small ranch home. One of the extension sets is in the basement. The basement set is unusable as it is out of range. I never had that problem with my old AT&T set. Also, there is a bit of noise in each handset. I suspect that the noise is due to the poor range. I would recommend spending a little more and getting a Panasonic or AT&T set. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Pretty but Lacking Useability Saturday, January 03, 2009 Tom from West Covina, CA
We have had the phones going for about a month. Good price, good looks, good voice quality, and good range. Easy to set up and use as a basic multi unit phone. We gave up our phone company speed dial service since this phone has it except that each handset has to be programed separately rather than simply once in the base unit (not good at all). We are still trying to figure out how to get from having a number in a directory (that was a job in itself) to where it is on a speed dial. And we are only trying on one phone first, then we will have to set up the other 3 units exactly the same or else we will end up with different speed dial numbers for each separate phone unit. As mentioned, the handsets are not hands free. To answer a phone requires pressing a key rather than simply picking it up and there are no speakerphone(s)at all. Only one handset can be used at a time so only one person can talk at one time. If the wrong person answers the phone, that unit has to be taken to the other person somewhere else in the house. Programing the phones is not user friendly at all. Also, since installing them, we have to wait through some type of busy signal for 2 or 3 seconds until we finally get a dial tone.
It is OK to buy if it is to be used simply as a multi unit phone with answering machine. By the way, the answering machine has a default message and to replace it with your own message does not look easy. We have left the default as is. Operation of other features is lacking and/or difficult. Each phone unit remembers the telephone numbers that were answered and/or dialed only on that unit. To return a call to a previously answered and/or dialed number, we have to first try to remember which phone unit was previously used. Normally we just give up and look up the number again. If some of these "extra" features are important to you, we recommend looking at other products. By the way, we never have any problems with BUY.com. In this case, I just did not do enough research. 3 of 5 Just OK Friday, January 02, 2009 A Customer from Marietta, GA
I love having 4 hand sets, but there's a little more stattic on the line than we had with our previous cordless phones. We are still trying to correct that . I hope we end up being satisfied in the end. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good Deal Tuesday, December 30, 2008 BJM from Independence MO
Phones work well and have good sound quality, but missing some features that we had before. Cannot turn ringers off on all phones from base unit, no speaker phone capability, and the there are limited ring tones and no tunes to set on phones.
Great deal for 3 remote phones plus base unit. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Love It!! Thursday, December 25, 2008 Bob from El Toro, CA
Great value, super clarity, easy to program...
although I was a tad disappointed to have to program
each phone individually, although perfect for a family of 4.
My good ol' wife and I both move kinda slow, so we need
multiable phones scattered about for just the two of us.
Answering machine is awesome!!
Highly recommend.

Sweet cordless phones! Only option I had hoped for was the ability to record your own voice on the answering machine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love having 4 handsets Wednesday, December 24, 2008 Paula from Honea Path SC
The multiple handsets are great. Work fine. Very easy to use and set up. I have no problem with reception. Great deal for a 4 handset setup. It isn't top of the line, but we didn't need all that anyway. It has the caller id and machine that's about all we needed anyway. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Don't expect much for $50 Wednesday, December 24, 2008 David L Harmon from Findlay, OH
The set of VTech cordless phones that I bought are useless when more than 15 feet from the base unit. Not worth the money to return them. I would rate the performance as less than one star, and as far as value goes, I guess I got what one gets for $50 nowadays -- maybe one star at best. Was this review helpful?

1 of 5 You get what you pay for. Wednesday, December 24, 2008 A Customer from Canton, GA
$49 for a 4 phone set seemed like a great deal. The problem is that these are low quality phones. The reception is not that good, and the features are limited. There is no speakerphone either. We dislike these phones so much that we have already replaced them with the Panasonic system. They cost a little more, but much better phones. Talking caller id, nicer display, good speakerphone. 4 of 5 Impressed and disapointed Tuesday, December 23, 2008 TonyR from Watersound, FL
I bought the phone system for my ageing mother as a Christmas gift. I have not tried it for quality yet, though I have charged all the phones and will be putting in the voice greeting today. My disapointment was that it did not have a speaker function. Probably my fault for not reading the description well enough. On the plus side, I was very impressed with the speed of delivery. I am confident, from having made numerous other purchases from Buy.com that if I have problems after tendering this gift, that Buy.com will stand behind the product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Value and Performance Tuesday, December 23, 2008 A Customer from Cordova, TN
This phone system is easy to set up and has very good fidelity. I can tell no difference in reception anywhere in my 3700 sq. ft. home. One thing that could be improved on is that if you want a Directory of names (capacity of 20) in the handset (four of them) you have to load (by hand) each handset independently. It would be nice to have the Directory loaded once into the base and then be able download it into each handset from there. Was this review helpful?
