The Vtech LS5145 Expandable Cordless Phone System is the best I've found for a large home, where you want to communicate using the intercom, and also utilize up to two (2) cell phones for monitoring incoming calls and have the benefit of toll free calling from home using one of the cell lines. The only drawback is the limited range (FCC dictated power limit) of about 60 to 70 feet. A large home will require experimenting with the base location to enable the best wireless coverage. Also, the bluetooth range for cell phones is limited, so you will have to "park" your cell phones within 20 to 30 feet from the base unit to maintain the cell connection with the base. This bluetooth feature alone is worth buying the Vtech, as many homeowners do not even have a land line and can use the cell connection to make / answer calls throughout the house with having to "run down the cell phone" for calls.
