| | Album Notes and Credits | Notes & Personnel Info | | This is part of Columbia Records "Now That's What I Call Music!" series. | | Like its predecessors, NOW 14 serves as a musical postcard from the pop charts, with this particular installment covering mid-to-late 2003. Not surprisingly, hip-hop makes a big mark, whether it's Jay-Z hooking up with paramour Beyonce Knowles on the Chi-Lites-sampling grandeur of "Crazy in Love" or St. Louis native Chingy dishing out his summer jam "Right Thurr." Justin Timberlake also clocks in a pair of appearances by way of his soulful duet with tourmates Black Eyed Peas on "Where Is the Love?" and a solo turn on the Latin-flavored radio edit of "Senorita." | | There's no shortage of R&B divas on this compilation either. In addition to Beyonce, Mya relaxes into the beats of the Missy Elliott co-written "My Love Is Like?Wo," Lumidee sings over the percussion-soaked "Never Leave You (Uh-Ooh, Uh -Ooh)," and Stacie Orrico croons her way over the harmony-tweaked "More to Life (There's Gotta Be)." As for rock fans, Fountains of Wayne offers up Beatlesque hooks and harmonies on "Stacy's Mom," alt-rock goddess Liz Phair serves up a sugary sweet "Why Can't I," and the Ataris give a pop-punk treatment to Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer." |

5 of 5 This cd rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wednesday, June 23, 2004 Beetlebug from Jacksonville, NC
I Think This CD Is Great!! It features great artists like Beyonce (I've always been a Destiny's Child fan), Stacie Orrico (who has the best song on this cd), Black Eyed Peas (After you hear this song, you'll hate war), Nickelback (I loved this song until I heard it a billion times on the radio), and 3 Doors Down. There are also some great newcomers to Now including Good Charlotte, Fountains of Wayne, Liz Phair, Thailia, Lumidee, & Chingy. But in every great cd there are a couple of songs/artists you just can't stand, such as R. Kelly's Thoia Thoing. This is a weird song and he has sex with 14 year old girls. Other bad apples are the Ataris and Justin Timberlake. The Ataris's remake of Boys of Summer is both old, boring, and stupid. I also have no idea why people love Justin Timberlake. I'll admit it, he dances great, but he can't sing.
Overall my favorites were (in order):Stacie Orrico, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Chingy, Murphy Lee, Fountains of Wayne, Liz Phair, Good Charlotte,3 Doors Down, and Nickelback. Was this review helpful?
