While it kicks off with the in-yer-face punkiness of Rancid's "The Brothels," there's far less punk, Oi!, hardcore, and bar band crunch than the title, package, and label name would indicate. The majority of the album, in fact, consists of various flavors of ska straight out of the Two-Tone catalog, capped by a visit from the Skatalites. Given the price, mind you, it isn't a bad deal; just be prepared for a musical experience as confusing as the average Bad Brains album. ~ Steven McDonald |

| | Professional Reviews | | Spin (10/97, pp.140-141) - "...With 20 tracks and enough marginal differentiation, there's something here for every moldy fig....Nothing here is particularly `original,' which is, of course, the point. But Dropkick Murphy's and the Gadjits, to name two, could benefit from the mass-audience pollution that GIVE 'EM THE BOOT's purity doesn't allow..." |
