Bardot plays Maria, the daughter of an Irish anarchist who is as swift with a burning fuse as she is naive in the ways of love. On the lam in Mexico circa 1910, she hides out with a touring carnival troupe, where she joins singer Maria (Moreau) in a dance hall act. When an involuntarily ripped skirt leads to the voluntary invention of the striptease, the two Marias become such a hit that wildly enthusiastic audiences...strip along with them! But the action gets even hotter when Moreau, who falls in love with a handsome revolutionary (George Hamilton), finds that she has unwittingly embroiled the two of them in an armed peasant revolt!
