2 of 5 Good picture, horrible interface Monday, March 03, 2008 Carabino from Greenville, SC
The ATI tvPORTAL software interface is unintuitive and clunky. I'm not sure if ATI even researched their competitors (Elgato EyeTV) when designing this software - EyeTV is fantastic when compared to this.
The picture looks great for the channels I can see -- autoscan doesn't do the best job, especially for unencrypted digital cable or over-the-air digital broadcast.
There is only one export option, and I can't get the MPEG files it creates to run in Quicktime (hangs or crashes) or stream to other media players (reports corrupted data).
Manual recording is very limited, I had to read the manual to figure out how to do it, and even then it only uses data from the guide, so if the guide isn't working you get "No Title" for your recording name.
Overall would not recommend this product -- the hardware seems great but the software ruins the experience. Back to EyeTV products for me! Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 No better than any other Monday, December 31, 2007 A Customer from Castalia, OH
I found this to be the same or worst than the EyeTV model. It had a problem finding local channels and their names when in setup. I really don't like it...the video quality is HORRIBLE. I can't believe a company can sell something that gives such a bad picture, especially for Mac computers. Like I said, nothing special..especially for the price.
Although I have yet to test it with Direct TV. Was this review helpful?
