VisionTek TV Wonder HD 650 PCI Express TV Tuner

I've tried several other TV tuners and have found them all lacking. This tuner on the other hand works amazingly well. Fairly easy to setup and performs well beyond my expectations. The only complaints I have is a awkward remote and the DVD player is a bit choppy, even on a high end system. Overall I would highly recommend this card for anyone, especially those considering it for the DTV transition.

After a month of use, I have experienced no issues. IT works well with Windows Media Center. Great video HD qaulity from off air antenna...better than expected. Highly recommend!

I had hard time to set up the software which came from the manufacture. I gave up. Now I am using the Windows Media Center watching TV. Quality is better than my old TV. I can't watch HD channels because I don't have an antenna. So I don't know how is the quality. The price was good.

The build quality of the card is pretty good, remote is a little filmsy but usable. I think I will keep it. :) Pros - good video quality, both live and recorded video. Cons - bad quality software - very difficult to use.

I don't why ppl are reviewing this item 3 or 1 star. To me this is the best tv tuner I've ever purchased. Some ppl even said that this thing has never worked for them, that must be a joke because all you do is just plug it in the computer and install the software and that's it. You're good to go. My system configuration is amd 9950be, gigabyte ga-ma78g-ds3h, ocz 4gb rpr. Quality is high def may be 720 but not 1080. Best buy's price was the best in the world.

I plugged in the card, installed the driver, plugged in my HD antenna, and I'm watching the football game in HD right now through media center. Couldn't be easier to use.

With the new update of Windows Media Center (July 2008), I had no trouble setting this card up to tune my cable companies (Cablevision) open digital HD QAM channels (13) using Windows Vista (home premium). The only downside is that this "update" has not been made available by Microsoft, but if you search for it you're likely to find it ... I did.

When I received my order, it took me about 20 minutes to open up my computer, plug in the card, close it up and have it running. I don't recommend using the software that came with it; instead use your Windows Media Center. It does everything for you. This is the first time I have ever opened a computer, and I was scared, but afer this, I am much more daring. Who knows what's next. When I used the over the air digital antenae, the picture was unbelievable; however, I plugged in cable so that I can get all my channels, and the analog picture isn't as good as the antenae. This is the second of these card I have purchased. First one was for my home last year when it came out. When I saw the prize cut to 50% as compared to my original card, I could not let this deal pass. Got this one for my office and I am getting over the air HDTV with no problems. Resolution with a simple rabbit ear antenna is fantastic. At home I get the Clear HD channels through my local cable company with no problem using Vista 64 bits Home premium OS in a dual boot machine with Win XP as the other OS.

This is my second product with VisionTek. I had a 600 USB that I used with my laptop that worked flawlessly once I figured out how to use it. When I wanted to get a tuner for my grandson's desktop, I decided why not try the 650. The computer the 650 is connected to runs Windows Vista 32-bit. No problems with watching TV thus far! The biggest concern I had to deal with was actually opening the case and installing the tuner. I'm far from a technical person and have never before dealt with the inside of the computer. But opening the case and installing the tuner to the motherboard was much easier than I thought. If I could do it, anyone can!

I have recently purchase this TV tuner so I can watch HDTV on my PC. I get great quality for my HD local channels. I have a DUAL boot system with Windows XP on one hard drive and Vista 64 Ultimate on another and no problems. Easy to install as well.

IT DOES SUPPORT VISTA. I am currently using it in Vista 64-bit but also worked great in Vista 32-bit. You can't purchase a higher quality tuner ! Clear QAM and HD over the air are great. I was even using it to transfer my old vhs tapes into a digital format.

Works perfect using Vista Media Center TV PACK 2008. Clear QAM HD channels look great.

I have not gotten this to work under Windows XP Pro with a cable connection. According to VisionTek's forums you need Vista to get clear QAM to work even though they don't mention this anywhere else.

If you also own ATI card, don't get it, no driver for this product that will support vista. I will have to wait for a new driver for my vista.

Interestingly, I bought this for my OEM desktop (WinXP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005), mindful of its PCIe technology. Since PCIe is the fastest mainstream option of AGP, PCI, & PCIe (from slowest to fastest) & since it will probably be around the longest, I eagerly opened the package & learned that my PC's only PCIe slot is X16 & not X1. <BR/> <BR/>So, I put it in another PC of mine, but <B>this product lacks official drivers for WinXP Pro 64-Bit & for any version of Windows® previous to XP</B>. MCE 2005 (or perhaps Vista) would be best suited for it. <U>Until I upgrade this PC's OS, there's not much to say about its performance--except for the outstanding, rave reviews that I have read.</U> <BR/> <BR/><I>Note: I tried switching harddrives between these PCs, but my OEM-version MCE requires a new license when legally installed on any other motherboard. So, when buying an OS (operating system) or whatever software, now you know a major difference between OEM and retail versions. Multiple calls to Microsoft™ over the course of 45 minutes resolved nothing. <BR/> <BR/><B>I am still eager to use this!</B></I>
