This card is much heavier than I thought, almost twice as heavy as my old 3870. The size is slightly longer than 3870, but no problem for me. The temperature is about 10 degrees higher than 3870, idles at around 70 and goes up to 90 (didn't try to reach maximum possible temp). Be sure to have plenty of space for this dude because there is a lot of heat coming out straight from the back.
Compared to other brands of 4870, this one is simple and effective, without any fancy stuff (like good looking shape or accesories in box). The performance is flawless, runs every game I care about at max on 25.5 screen, which is 1920x1200 resolution.
My only complain is that it's still pretty expensive since it's been a while since 4870 is out in the market. I guess the price doesn't drop because it's still one of the best card in the market. Was this review helpful?

I got it, installed it and things were great.
It is a very good HD-Card. The only problem is/was
it was difficult to make My PC sleep and wake whithout
problems.
Whith some bios and os tweaking it worked out OK.
Im sure that ATI will address this issue in later

For less than 300 dollars you can't beat it. No problems at all. It got here two days after I placed the order. Good shipping. One of the best cards I've owned... great fps on every game I throw at it with high settings and 16x AA (edge detect). The noise levels are very quiet after boot-up. Also buy.com was extremely fast in shipping it out. Was this review helpful?

The VisionTek HD Radeon 4870 is a wonderful video card. It has the performance of a card twice its price. I highly recommend it. There are only two minor issues I had. Its a big card, and was a little difficult to install, but considering all cards with this level of performance are this big, I cant hold that against it. Secondly, When I got the package, all that was protecting it was some crumpled paper one one side. Was this review helpful?

Purchased two of these to run in CrossFire and I couldn't be happier. Amazing FPS on all my games... and now I can run Crisis how it was meant to be run (everything maxed). I was looking around and found that buy.com had the lowest price for this video card with its free shipping and coupon deals. The shipping speed is incredible, I got this at my door Tuesday morning when I ordered on Sunday. The HD 4870 installed easy and performed great in all my games. I upgraded from a EVGA 8800 GTS 320mb and could feel a great performance increase. This was my first purchase from buy.com and I am a happy customer! The only thing not so great was the packaging. All that was protecting the box was a few pieces of crumpled paper on only 1 side of the video card box. Was this review helpful?

VisionTek has been at the front of the line with putting out new ATI stuff, but the 4870 is ridiculous for the price. Forget paying $600 for NVidia, you could run two of these cards in Crossfire and pay the same amount of money and be set for years! Nothing like jumping into the fray in COD4 with my sorround sound going and getting full 1080p on my flatscreen without having to buy anything extra. Was this review helpful?

With this graphics card I'm able to run today's games with very high quality and smooth gameplay. Overclocked mine to 790/1100 with ATI Overdrive without any problems. I'm also running Optimal Quality in the ATI Catalyst Drivers, and the quality is out of this world!!!
