2 of 5 Viking 128MB CF Card a Waste Thursday, December 23, 2004 gostevego99 from Brooklyn, NY
I bought the Viking 128MB CF Card (with an irresistable rebate) a couple of weeks ago as a back up for my Nikon digital camera. It's a total waste. It took almost 10 seconds for my camera to load when it usually takes 2 seconds. At first I thought there was something wrong with my camera. Then it took at least twice as long to transfer/load each picture compared with my other CF Cards (SanDisk & Lexar Media). So, don't waste your money on it. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good card, does its job right. Thursday, December 09, 2004 yukico94 from Los Angeles CA
Believe it or not, CF cards CAN fail. Viking is a good brand so I trust its products. I bought this 128 MB one mainly due to the low price. But after filling out all that paper work and envelopes, I realized the rebate wasn't worth it. Just buy the 1 GB one and get it over with. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great memory for the money Sunday, December 05, 2004 A Customer from Cleveland,OH
Great memory card for the money. FYI: If you are giving it as a gift, it does not come in a retail box. Just in an anti-static bag. Great buy. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 good value, but little slow Wednesday, September 01, 2004 A Customer from lowell, ma
I use with my coolpix 2100 and sony F-828 it is little slower than sandisk CF. If you use low end digital camera buy high data transfer CF card. It works fine with high end digital camera. Was this review helpful?

I have been using this card for a few days now. After the rebate price, this card only cost me around $17. It stores pictures quickly and I am able to take around 120 high quality pictures on my Canon A60's best setting. Excellent Card. I am Highly Satisfied ! Was this review helpful?

Bought this 128 mb Viking card primarily because it has been given rave reviews here and has been rated fast as compared to several other CF cards (i.e. Sandisk, Lexarmedia, etc.). I have used the Kodak CF card(made by Sandisk), Lexarmedia, and Sandisk cards, and I thought they were slow. When I take two pictures in succession with the Viking CF card in my Kodak 260 camera, the first picture loads in about 2 or 3 seconds, however the second one takes 8 to 10 seconds........slow.......not any faster than the others. Good news is that when I had this card in my card reader and attempted to load a large (about 40 megs )of pictures that I had on my computer hard drive, it was very very fast copying. My Camera is the problem?
Overall, this card has good value and works okay......just not that fast. Was this review helpful?

I purchased a new canon dig camera a month or so back. The 8mb card that came with the cam was totally insuficient. Recently saw an ad for a Viking 128mb card and purchased it thru buy.com. Not only was the card purchased at a very fair price but the quality of the pics from the card are excellent in every respect. I am totally satisfied with it and would recommend anyone looking for a great card to purchase it.

Just received two Viking 128 MB CompactFlash memory cards. Can't believe my little camera can hold 1,938 pictures at 896 x 600 resolution on EACH card. These things work very fast and integrated with my camera without a hitch. I'm so impressed, I'm thinking of buying another SanDisk card reader and using the cards to transfer data between work and home. Now, if only I could figure out how to make the batteries in the camera last long enough to take nearly 4,000 pictures while on vacation. Was this review helpful?

Since compact flash cards are so small and fairly sturdy, I decided to use them for the transfer of data between my computer, my laptop, and my friends PC. The read time is very fast and the price per MB factor make this an obvious choice over Zip disks. Also works nice with my digital camera and my Lyra MP3 player! Was this review helpful?

After checking a compact flash comparison at http://www.dpreview.com/articles/mediacompare/, I decided this seemed to have decent speed for the price. I've been very happy with it. Typical time to take a picture at the highest resolution (2160x1440 pixels, but compressed [Kodak DX3900]) is between 1 and 2 seconds. I suspect more time is spent for the camera to do the JPEG compression than in the transfer itself. Transferring the pictures from the compact flash module to my laptop (using a PCMCIA adapter for compact flash) is lightning fast. I get around 150-200 pictures on this module. Fast compact flash card for reasonable price. Bought Mr. Flash CF card(generic) for my Nikon camera and found out that this card took twice as long to write and read. Annoying to wait long if you are shooting multiple fast shots. This card is much faster and cost about half of Lexar media pro. Great CF card!!!!!! Was this review helpful?
