5 of 5 Great Deal Tuesday, February 24, 2009
A Customer from SD

This is an excellent buy, if you are an ergonomics nut this monitor is for you. Adjustable height is a bonus. Plus Viewsonic has always made great products.

3 of 5 Not fast enough but no dead pixels Monday, October 27, 2008
A Customer from Chandler, AZ
I connected this monitor to my HP Pavilion dv9000t running Vista. The image on the screen appeared to have static lines running thru it. I had difficulty with getting it setup with 1680x1050 pixels, so I'm not sure if the screen is fast enough to handle this setting. On the positive, I checked to see if there was any dead pixels and could not find any.

Great monitor. After a year, no complaints. It was a good deal when I bought it, and it has not let me down.

3 of 5 Good looking monitor but poor reliability Monday, September 15, 2008
A Customer from Folsom, CA
I purchased the monitor over a year and a half ago. It functioned fine with fantastic picture until after just over a year from purchase it started waking up later and later in the boot up process with my Vista PC. Eventually it woke up and then blanked out totally just before I could select my user icon. To their credit, Viewsonic repaired the monitor and it worked for two months after the repair before it would not display a thing from my Vista PC but worked fine with my XP laptop. Viewsonic replaced the monitor with a new one which is working fine so far. It's a great 3 year warranty. One other negative of it is that the lowest the monitor screen will go is 7" above the desk. With a 10 1/5" vertical screen size that puts the top of the screen quite high for optimal viewing. It can go ven higher than that, but not lower. The speakers occupy about 3" below the screen and the stand another 3 1/2".

3 of 5 Cloudy Tuesday, December 04, 2007
Don from Watauga, TX
I initially rated this monitor fairly high, with a minor complaint concerning the annoying blue LED. As time has passed I've noticed two more areas showing cloudiness, so that I now have cloudy areas at the top, bottom, and left. Viewing the monitor from beneath..ie top tilted away causes dark scenes to become darker so I suspect the viewing angles quoted in the specs to be suspect. If you plan to use this monitor for office type applications it will be fine, but for gaming and watching movies look elsewhere. As more monitors come onto the market it should be easy enough to find one that will give more value for your money.

5 of 5 Bright and clear Thursday, November 29, 2007
Gary from New Haven
I bought this to replace an old 17" CRT that was failing. It looks terrific and everyone who uses it likes the extra pixels and the sharp screen (even with an analog input). If I had to find a fault, it would be with the small buttons used to change display parameters. They are a bit confusing to use, so it's fortunate that we don't need to adjust it often.

5 of 5 Great monitor for the price Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Gold Country from California
I couldn't be happier with this monitor. It replaced a Viewsonic LCD that was about 6 years old and finally died. This one has even a better picture. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I found the sound from the built in speakers to be very satisfactory. But I use it at home and it is usually quiet here. I didn't want a set of speakers cluttering my desk, so the speakers were important to me. With its nice size you can watch TV in a window while doing other things and it doesn't even get in the way.

4 of 5 Great Monitor Tuesday, November 27, 2007
John Hanks from Sedro-Woolley, WA
I've been using a lot of these monitors. The speakers aren't very loud, but the 3 year warranty and good quality at a great price are the biggest positives.

5 of 5 Couldn't Be Happier Thursday, July 26, 2007
A Customer from Seattle, WA
Exactly what I wanted out of a 20 inch widescreen monitor. Looks great, no dead pixels, bright picture. Playing half-life 2 in widescreen resolution is simply awesome! I dont use the speakers, so I can't comment on them. No noticable blur when watching videos. Would recommend this to anyone.

3 of 5 nice pic, bad sound and controls Saturday, July 21, 2007
Jabba from Hillsborough, NJ
The display is really nice. The tilt and other physical adjustments are good to have. The speakers are very weak. Also there is no headphone jack. Also the volume control is very hard to access, not like a knob on real speakers that you can easily adjust. And the tiny unlabeled control buttons are hard to use. Luckily you dont need to use them much. If you are strapped for space and can't have real speakers, this will work for you. Otherwise, you can find a smaller profile display (without the 2 inches of plastic at the bottom where the speakers are held) and get separate speakers with a real volume control and headphone jack, you may be happer.

5 of 5 Lots of Screen-Space Monday, July 02, 2007
A Customer from Mossyrock, WA
Wow! What an improvement from my 17" CRT. I can see a powerpoint and word document side by side and cut and paste easily between them. When I maximize the window I see so much more at one time than before. Not so positive are the speakers. I had hoped to get rid of my powered speaker to free up some of my desk. However the speakers barely are audible. My music sounds like elevator music being played in the backgound. I had to turn the brightness down a bit. That was easy with my Mac. Set up was obviously very easy... real plug and play!

4 of 5 Monitor Monday, July 02, 2007
A Customer from Fort Collins, CO
I had no problem with sound as some others had described. Once I adjusted the volume on the side panel of the monitor I had to turn the volume down using the volume control in Microsoft (which is a hassle)because it was so loud. Free shipping got the monitor to me on Wednesday - I ordered Monday. I am very pleased with the monitor and Buy.com.

5 of 5 nice monitor Wednesday, June 13, 2007
A Customer from LA, CA
The monitor came really fast. I think it was like 1 business day. I didn't see any dead pixels. I don't play PC games so I think the speakers are ok. Not useless like some other people have indicated. Really nice and bright pictures. Overall I am really satisfied with the purchase. The buttons on the side are kinda hard to find though.

4 of 5 Clear & Crisp! Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Lee from Warwick, RI
I am a graphic artist and had certain trepidations about switching over to a LCD monitor. I visited a local store to see some "in the flesh" and was impressed by the Viewsonic monitors. My main concern was the tiny, misplaced control buttons on the monitors. I was pleasantly surprised to see this one arrive with the buttons more wisely placed and laid out on the side of the monitor case. Overall I am VERY happy with the picture quality, clarity and brightness of the monitor. Along with the space saving of the LCD this was a great purchase.

4 of 5 Very good, but speakers are ineffectual Friday, June 08, 2007
A Customer from San Francisco Bay Area
This we a great buy for a 20" monitor. Good color, relatively good viewing angle, and bright. Make sure you adjust the brightness after installing it. The speakers are only 2 watts each and sound very tinny. I suggest buying a separate pair of speakers if you're looking for good quality sound anyway. The audio control on the monitor is extremely difficult to use and good luck trying to change the volume in low light. I simply turned the sound all the way up and use the Windows volume control to control the sound.

5 of 5 The VG2035 is an excellent graphics display for th Thursday, June 07, 2007
contours from Readsboro Vermont
I bought this display to serve as as a mate (extended 1680x1050 screen) to the VX2035 I already own. I am using it in analog mode from the VGA ports of two different PCs using a KVM switch. I wasn't expecting as much from it, given the DVI port of only one PC connects directly to the VX2035. Overall I am very impressed with the performance and quality of the VG2035. While not quite as bright as my VX2035, which is understandable given the different technology, it is every bit as crisp. My only dissappointment was having to abandon the auto-adjust feature. Before resorting to manual adjustments of the color and picture quality I was getting some noticable flicker. Although I admit my older graphics card might have had something to do with this problem.

I bought this monitor for a new system that I am building for a ham radio shack. The quality of the picture is excellent and it will more than serve my needs. I also played some games and again, the picture quality was very much to my liking.

beautiful colors quick response time. It took awhile to set up with my ATI video card. At first the fonts were blurry even at the native resolution. I reinstalled the ATI drivers and that solved the problem.

5 of 5 Great Monitor! Monday, May 28, 2007
beth from Reisterstown, MD
I was originally hesitant to purchase a monitor online, but I'm certainly glad I did. The monitor is great! Great color, great size, great price and I used Buy.com's free shipping and my monitor arrived in 2 days. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I've used it for a couple weeks, and have found absolutely nothing to complain about, and although my video card does not have a digital hookup and I'm using analog, I'd recommend this monitor to anyone and everyone who is looking for a flat panel monitor. It's easy to setup, easy to use, the tilt feature is great and I LOVE IT! I'm a graphic artist so I'm picky about color and the color is superb. I'm so happy I replaced my old monitor with this one. Thank You Buy.com for the great deals and providing us with great merchandise!

5 of 5 Don't know why I waited so long to upgrade? Sunday, May 27, 2007
William Peters from Burbank, California
Have always been pleased with Viewsonic monitors and this one is no exception. It's like getting a new prescription for your eyes; you can't imagine how you managed to get by without it. Only downside is the speaker system which doesn't have enough volume but didn't really buy it for that.

4 of 5 Nice monitor Sunday, May 27, 2007
A Customer from Watauga TX
Two cons: 1. Wobbly stand 2. Engineers worked long and hard to design this monitor, but then some idiot decided to put a superbright unshielded blue led in the power button. The internal light leakage is only noticeable on dark scenes, but a stupid mistake.

3 of 5 Monitor good, sound too low, buttons too tiny Saturday, May 26, 2007
A Customer from Hillsborough, NJ
The screen is fine. I bought it over other models because of the numerous tilt/etc. adjustments. However, the speakers are way too soft, even when set to 100%. My friend who bought this monitor after seeing mine says the same thing, and he is returning his. Also the adjustment buttons are tiny with no labels, you need to refer to the manual to figure them out.

5 of 5 Great value, outstanding monitor Saturday, April 14, 2007
A Customer from PEORIA, AZ
Puts my old personal 17" to shame and also my 19" at work. Setup is easy as long as you follow the simple directions, just too bad they don't include a DVI cable. Not using the speakers, so I can't speak to that. While the setup CD is fairly clear, there is one point in the install wizard that is somewhat confusing and, if you're not careful, will restart the installation. Other than that, I had it setup in 20 minutes (including clearing my desk off).

4 of 5 Great image, so-so use. Thursday, April 05, 2007
ken from Merrimack, NH
If I'd bought this monitor just for its image, I'd've given it five stars across the board. However, when you get speakers in the monitor, you want a little something extra. Mind you: I do -not- expect in-monitor speakers to compete with the sound quality of external, powered speakers. That being said, the sound quality is fine. However, one very common thing is to want to change the volume -- bump it up for those quiet movies, lower the volume when watching something late at night. Many (most?) monitors that have speakers have easy-to-use volume control buttons... this one doesn't. If they were easy to see (say, front-mounted) maybe that wouldn't be an issue, but they're off to the side. While they are labeled on the front of the monitor, it's only by impressions in the plastic, not paint -- so it doesn't show well. All in all, changing volume is now, by necessity, largely done through software. NOTE: this sounds like I'm making it a major hang-up, and it's not one. Just want to describe the *one* thing I dislike about this monitor in detail for those who are interested. The video quality is absolutely outstanding: bright, crisp, fast updates, etc., etc. And having in-monitor speakers also comes with the side benefits that it really cleans up one's desk (no speakers), and the area under one's desk (no extra power/audio cables). All told, it's certainly worth the price -- even though buy.com seems to have screwed me on the "free shipping..." but that's not the monitor's fault.

5 of 5 Clear and crisp Tuesday, April 03, 2007
vicdelta from Monterey, California
The clarity is the first thing that got me. Perfect color, very bright. There are no bad pixels. No fading. It's a very good monitor. I'm having a bit of a time adjusting to the wide screen, but I am learning that the extra space really comes in handy. Today while doing my taxes, I had a calculator next to the tax software and another tool on the other side. Everything was readable and easy to use. The included speakers are not particularly noteworthy. I don't use mine. The documentation is very weak. Other monitor features are very poorly explained if at all. For example the monitor has a DVI jack, but what it's for is not covered anywhere in the documentation. Luckily it's a monitor so not much documentation is really needed. Now if you can buy this for $197 as I did, snap it up in a New York minute. It's worth that much and more.

5 of 5 Seeing is Believing Monday, April 02, 2007
A Customer from Geneva, IL
Seeing is believing. What an incredible picture. I've used monitors from several other manufacturers in the past. The Viewsonic blows them all away. My wife walked into the room and thought I had bought a flat screen TV for the office. The graphics are superb. My son plays Star Wars Battlefront and it looks as if he is controlling an action movie. I like the wide screen to be able to work on two full size documents side by side. The adjustable tilt, height and swivel didn't seem like a selling feature but I'll never use another monitor without it. It almost adjusts itself. You bearly have to touch the monitor and it moves and stays exactly where you want it. Great purchase. Great price.

5 of 5 excellent overall but weak speakers Saturday, March 31, 2007
Andy from Houston, TX
This is my secondary monitor (my primary monitor is a Dell 24" wide screen LCD w/out speaker) so it is important for me that my 2nd monitor is not as expensive, has a bright enough screen when sitting next to the Dell and a fully adjustable stand (height/tilt/swivel). The quality of the display/stand are excellent but the built-in speakers are weak. The stand is solid and is about 9.5" in diameter. I was shocked to receive the monitor the day after I placed my order. This is definitely an excellent monitor for me!

5 of 5 Can't go wrong Friday, March 30, 2007
Graham from Westfield, NJ
I have been buying Viewsonic monitors for 10 years now (specifically the G (graphic) series). My first CRT 17" monitor is still going strong. Viewsonic makes great monitors, has a good warranty period (3 years) and when you catch a rebate are a good bargain for the price. My only complaint is the lack of a DVI cable with this monitor. My last one (VG2025) is basically the same monitor (not widescreen) but came with both cables.

5 of 5 Nice Monitor Thursday, March 29, 2007
Ken from Franklin, VA
I was a little apprehensive when I ordered this monitor in fear of finding out after I had it that my video would not support it, but turned out to be no problem at all. Able to do the full 1680 x 1050 using the built-on Nvidia 6150 controller on my motherboard - using Linux to boot! (Debian Etch) Works great and looks good. Getting more used to the wide screen every day. :) Only down side I saw was the lack of inclusion of a DVI cable. I still want to buy one of those, but it's working just fine with the analog cable.

5 of 5 Great monitor. Great price. Thursday, March 29, 2007
A Customer from Spokane, WA
Setup works fine for anything pre-Vista. ViewSonic has not yet got their act together for getting the monitor's video modes properly recognized by Vista - I can only get it to run 1024x768 under Vista, even afetr installing ViewSonic's :New! Vista!" drivers. But that wasn't my primary application, so I don't care too much. It happily runs 1680x1050 under WinServ2003 and XP. The manual adjustment buttons are a bit small and hard to use, but fortunately not much needed. It just works fine. The tilt/swivel and telescoping height adjustment are wonderful, smooth and reliable. The video quality is just outstanding. Sharp display, deep blacks, great response time. Excellent value at $219 after rebate.

5 of 5 Viewsonic 20" LCD WideScreen Thursday, March 29, 2007
A Customer from Fredericktown, MO
This is another great Viewsonic monitor. I also have a VX-1912 which is an awsome monitor. This one has absolutely flawless resolution and sharpness. The resolution of 1680 X 1050 is fantastic. You can get a lot of stuff on the screen at one time! You'll need to set the Windows fonts to LARGE, unless you have extreemely good vision. At this resolution, the fonts are just too small to see comfortably. This monitor is a great value. Viewsonic just keeps lowering their prices!! Love it.

3 of 5 Wife doesn't like it Wednesday, March 28, 2007
A Customer from Fenton, Michigan
My wife doesn't like the screen images at all but I think it might be LCD's in general that mess with her eyes. I don't like the speakers, you can hardly hear anything from them. The function buttons on the side of the screen are hard to use/see they are very small so they are even hard to feel too. One of the main reason I bought this was because of the built in speakers, but they are near useless. Picture quality is fine and I did not notice any dead pixels.

5 of 5 Great LCD for a Great Price Tuesday, March 27, 2007
A Customer from Iowa
I am a typical home user..not much time for games.. but this monitor looks great, very bright, good color contrast, and a great price! I also trust ViewSonic as I have used them at my company for several years. Today I'm not running it DVI as I wanted to try it out first as just VGA. I also am not using the sound as I have a Logitech system with a sub. The Brightness I turned down as out of the box it was very bright.

I'm a gamer and this monitor is great, no ghosting. No black around the screen like my other Viewsonic CRT had. Had to do a little tweaking but nothing major. Buttons work just fine. Did'nt hook up the speakers since I have my own, so I cant say how good those are. But all around a very good monitor. Plus no dead pixels.

The monitor works great. I was replacing a Planar monitor that didn't last two years. It was simply a matter of unplugging the old one and plugging up the new one. Easy.... the way it should be.

4 of 5 It's worth it! Monday, March 26, 2007
A Customer from Columbia, SC
There is no doubt that ViewSonic is the brand name in this line of products. The screen is crystal clear, the built-in speakers are convenient and loud enough, and dual interface (VGA and DVI) fits contemporary requirements, and the adjustable seat provides more comfort. The price is right, of course, with the rebate. Several problems/issues other people reported and I observed: - A DVI cable might have been provided; - The control buttons are not well designed. First, they reside on the side so that you cannot see easily which is which. Second, the buttons do not pop up smoothly sometimes. Thirdly, they might have designed seperate buttons for the speaker volume. I found it troublesome to adjust the volume via a combination of button operations. - The resultion notification dialog is annoying. I played an old game with lower resolution than ViewSonic recommended, and everytime the dialog shows up to recommend changing the resolution. Is there a way I can turn it off? These issues are not serious but deserve improvement.

4 of 5 Nice monitor, but... Monday, March 26, 2007
Alice from Parsippany, NJ
The monitor arrived very quickly from Buy.com. I removed it from the box, read all directions, and followed them to the "t". I loaded the software, etc. and when I set the monitor to 1650x1050, my computer crashed to a blue screen with white letters. I rebooted, tried again and each time the same problem. I went to Viewsonic's website from another computer and called their support number. After a 20 minute wait, I got a tech with a verrrrrrrrrrry thick French accent. I could barely understand him. He had me download some software and said it would be fine. I asked him to stay on the phone to see if the computer worked properly. When I restarted the computer, it crashed. After 1.5 hours, he finally got it to work. I hung up the phone, started to use an accounting program and another blue screen and a crash. I went back to my old monitor. A week later my son helped me over the phone. He had me remove the original software, download new drivers and reconfigure the monitor. We used a slightly lower resolution and have had no difficulty. The picture is clear; the words are easy to read. I would not be able to fit two pages of a document on the screen at one time, but I never have to scroll across the screen. Everything fits on the screen. The height adjustment is good, the viewing angle is fine. I have separate speakers that I had purchased, so I am unable to comment on the sound quality. My clients have commented on how nice the screen looks and how easy it is to read. Viewsonic needs to improve their support people.

4 of 5 Some Oddities With This Monitor Monday, March 26, 2007
A Customer from San Marino, CA
Generally satisfied with the monitor. However, there are some odd problems I've had with it. It does not come with a DVI cable. When you buy a DVI cable, make sure it is not too thick and does not have a inline capacitor as the DVI connector on the monitor is located so close to the monitor housing that I could not properly plug in the DVI connector. The cable and the capacitor would not allow the connector to square-up and fit in the connector. I bought a second thinner DVI cable and it worked fine, but an odd experience nonetheless. Worse yet, I've experienced some sparkling during video playback. Having the widescreen space on the desktop is great, and the tilt and vertical adjustment works well. The built-in speakers are ok, but probably inadequate for an audiophile.

5 of 5 Best monitor I own Monday, March 26, 2007
Zman from Toledo, OH
This monitor is awsome. Pulled it out of the box, hooked it up istalled the software and was amazed with the screen size and cleairty. I was looking to buy another flat screen with 1440x900 res, until this unit was recommended by a friend. It blows away my 1440x900 monitor, which is an Acer. I would highly recommend this item to anyone who does any type of graphic applications, photos, videos or games. The reoslution brightness and ease of use of controls are what sold me along with the price. The only drawback to this monitor is the speakers, but if you are buying this type of monitor you will most likley have a good set of speakers and won't be using the monitor anyway. Great price for what you are getting.

Only had the product for about 2 weeks and so far so good. Great picture, no dead pixels, no ghosting at all...at least I couldn't detect any. Buy.com: great online service, free shipping, got my product in about 5 days.
