paul from san diego, ca

Was nice while it worked, but now screen is all distorted and erratic. Too bad but I see mine lasted longer than some.

1 of 5 14 months - Dead Tuesday, May 06, 2008
Michael from Placerville, CA
Like many others I thought that this monitor had a 3 year warranty. Optiquest monitors have only a 1 year warranty. I was enjoying the monitor and then just shy of the 14 month point the monitor went black. No power. I think there are other monitors with a true 3 year warranty that would be a better deal.

1 of 5 Another Q9 that died less than 2 years old. Monday, March 03, 2008
John P. from Chicago, IL
Just this morning my Viewsonic Q9 simply quit without warning. I was reading email when it just died right in front of me. No display, no strange sounds, no power LED, nothing. Probably the power supply. Looking at other recent reviews, this seems to be becoming a common phenomenon. My first Q9 was defective, the display did not render colors well at all, resulting in a "solarized" appearance. To buy.com's credit, the RMA process and return was smooth. While the Q9 worked, it seemed to work well. The display was crisp for an analog LCD, only one dead pixel. Internal speakers performed as expected for their tiny size. Overall I thought the Q9 was a good value right up until it died. Unit purchased in August 2006, replacement arrived in September 2006. Now here in March 2008 the display died. Given my experience with one defective Q9 and its replacement dying, I'm done with Viewsonic unless they decide that Q9's dying is epidemic and repair this out of warranty unit.

2 of 5 Great while it lasted Monday, February 11, 2008
JBN from Rougemont, NC
Great picture, easy to set up, I was so happy with this replacement monitor I bought for my home PC that I bought another one for my office...and now after 18 months it's DEAD with no warning, under very stable use conditions. Warranty on ViewSonic Q-series monitors is only 1 year (with one exception: LCD backlight is warranted for 3 years if purchased outside the US). Very frustrating! now I'm worrying that #2 will die soon, since it was just a month newer than the first one. Other Viewsonic lines have a 3 year warranty, but not the lower priced Q-series and VA- value line series. I loved the picture quality and embedded speakers, but I'm buying some other brand from now on -- a 1-year monitor is insufficient!

1 of 5 Died After Fifteen Months Wednesday, December 26, 2007
John Shupe from Grand Rapids, Michigan
I was among the chorus singing the praises of this monitor until this past weekend when the monitor died. It started making a weird, warbling electronic hum as the computer started. The image would flicker and dim and finally just went black. I plugged it into another computer to make sure that it was truly the monitor and it was. Nice monitor while it lasted, but when measuring cost versus useful lifetime - this monitor is a very poor value.

5 of 5 Optiquest Q9 is Great Wednesday, December 12, 2007
Ron from Alexandria, VA
I was looking for a monitor with speakers included and, while I'd not heard of the Optiquest brand, I decided to give it a try. It's slim, offers great resolution, and is Energy Star compliant. It works so well that I bought a second one for another computer!

5 of 5 I love my new monitor Thursday, November 29, 2007
Cindy from Katy, TX
This is the second one of these monitors I have purchased. I really liked the first one I ordered as a gift for my husband. I decided to get one myself. I looked at others, but really loved the product so much that I decided to order a second one like the first. A great buy and produces excellent resolution.

1 of 5 Bought 7, 3 failed at 14 months Wednesday, October 17, 2007
A Customer from Big D
I purchased 7 of these monitors in June of 2006 and 14 months later 3 of them have gone dead. The screen slowly goes dark over about a day and that's that. It looks to be the power supply because the speakers start whaling too. Can't find the part on the web. Save your money, buy a different monitor. I have a Princeton that has been going strong for 3 years. I have had several Viewsonic monitors that have gone bad right after the warranty expired. BS in my book.

Sad from MN from Brooklyn Park MN
It worked great for 1 year and 2 months. now the cable must have a fray in it. The video shows up in different tints of color depending on where the cable is positioned.

5 of 5 Excellent Deal Tuesday, March 27, 2007
Tim from Ohio
Great price on a great monitor. I had zero dead pixels out of the box, which is what I'd expect from Viewsonic. Excellent color and contrast with no adjustments at all, and probably weighing only a fifth of the CRT it replaced. The only slight drawback is the speaker quality; don't plan on watching TV on this or cranking any music without some externals, but the integrated ones are fine for desktop use.

5 of 5 Super Monitor Friday, March 23, 2007
Bill & Arlene from Bowmanstown; PA
This is the best monitor I have used. It is replacing the big type 17" that came with the Dell. Unlike the Dell and other big type monitors it has a full screen view from edge to edge all the way around and is a very good space saver. The easiest to connect with Plug & Play features. No dead pixels. Would buy another. I bought this from Buy.com at 1pm and received it at 3pm the next day. Incredibly fast shipping from FedEx and Buy.com. I highly recommend this monitor and Buy.com as this is not my only good experience with this retailer.

4 of 5 good monitor, poor speakers Saturday, March 17, 2007
A Customer from NY, NY
Monitor is fine - good contrast, brightness, etc. Plug and play for easy start. One problem - the built in speakers are very tinny. I was hoping to replace my regular external computer speakers and save some space, but that won't work.

This monitor exceeds my expectations. The screen is clear and bright with no bad pixels. Buy.com made the selection and order process easy and the monitor arrived quickly. I have no complaints.

4 of 5 Good but dead pixel Thursday, March 08, 2007
A Customer from Schaumburg, IL
Out of the two we bought, had one dead pixel that shined brightly smack dab in the middle. You can't get warranty service unless there are 4 or more per screen. I guess that's the price you pay for a good deal. Overall happy with them though.

4 of 5 Good Choice Saturday, March 03, 2007
A Customer from Scottsdale, AZ
As I expected, Viewsonic has made another good product. It was simple to install, worked perfectly and looks good. The downside is the speakers, but I have never found a set of integrated speakers that are any good...even at twice the price. You won't be disappointed at the value and perormance of this unit.

5 of 5 WOW!!!! Wednesday, November 15, 2006
A Customer from Hot Springs, AR
Okay, I've only had this new Q19WB monitor turned on for about a half hour. BUT, if first impressions mean anything - this thing is phenomenal. I have been using a standard screen 15" LCD for about 2 years. I was blown away by the difference. Setup was easy, thanks to the owner's manual, which is a .PDF file on the setup disc. I would not have known how to properly adjust the resolution without the manaul but it's concise so no problem. One thing. Don't pay for the "supposedly" faster shipping. I took the free budget shipping and had delivery in two days. Buy.com is the only place to purchase electronics equipment, in my opinion. My wife and I have bought several items from them and they always have the best price and fastest shipping available.

5 of 5 Stellar 19" LCD Thursday, November 02, 2006
A Customer from Rochester, NY
What can I say, it is beautiful in any setting, broad daylight, flourescent lighting, and even in the dark. This display is awesome. I have owned it for 5 months and I am very pleased with its performance. I took it out of the packaging, plug it in to power and my PC's video adapter, and enjoyed. If you are looking for a 19" monitor, look no further.
