5 of 5 Works great + wife loves it! Monday, May 11, 2009 A Customer from Golden, CO
I bought this as a gift for my wife -- a huge success! The display is crisp, and the battery option makes it handy to use/view pictures away from an outlet. The remote is a nice feature, as it has shortcuts to access the various menus, which would otherwise be a hassle to navigate via back-panel buttons. We also like the music playback and random slide-show features. As a previous reviewer noted, I too was flummoxed at first by the power-on delay. But as mentioned, just press-n-release the button and it will turn on, sometimes after a 1-2 second delay. (I was impatiently pressing multiple times, or trying to press-n-hold, waiting for it to power on before releasing -- doesn't work!) For downloading pix, I recommend Picasa 3 (free Google app) feature that lets you export a collection of pictures directly to the card, and set the option to resize images to 800 pixels, (i.e., the max width resolution of the display). This reduces the file size with no loss in display quality; I have over 1000 pix stored on the internal 250MB memory alone! Was this review helpful?

I purchased this unit because of other reviews and it works VERY nice! Battery takes a long time to charge and the blue indicator of charge works great. The unit is fully portable and powers up fine on the battery.
The remote function also was a selling point for me because my wife is handicapped. The biggest down fall I see is the instruction book does not cover file size or storage on the USB drive, just keep the file size small and place any files in a root folder for easy viewing.
The failure on this unit is the fact that the remote power on and off function are disabled!!! Not a good feature for the handicapped!!! Other than that it is a great unit good picture quality and the audio quality is very good. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Brilliant display with a few quirks Tuesday, February 17, 2009 A Customer from Annapolis, MD
Received this after a very long wait (originally out of stock). When I first got it, I had serious problems powering it on until I contacted support and they informed me it has a fast switching power supply. You shouldn't hold down the button for more than 1/2 sec, but there's a slight delay when you see the screen come on. Not well documented. The display is crisp and clear, very nice. It also has a random slideshow feature which I thought last year's reviews said it didn't. Maybe a feature added with new firmware? This is defintely a thumbs up. I tried transferring photos from a USB thumb drive but it would hang everytime I tried to access it through the menu. I just ended up doing a USB direct connect to my laptop and the frame showed up as a removable drive. Dragged and dropped the pictures without a problem. Oh, this is supposed to have a built in battery, but it doesn't power up unless plugged into the wall. No big deal, but I suppose either it doesn't have the battery or it's DOA. The blue light on the power button that is supposed to stay illuminated (when plugged in) until the battery is fully charged is always lit. Add to that the battery is not replaceable. Still a good buy for an 8" digital frame. Was this review helpful?

Bought this 8" digital picture frame for a christmas gift (2008). Am currently loading pictures onto a 2 gb sd card for my son in the navy. The display is bright and very good. Love the internal battery for displaying. Have not tried all options yet but this is very nice and with a one year guarantee you can't go wrong. Was this review helpful?
