    3 of 5 Good Backup drive... Tuesday, July 28, 2009

    I received the NAS drive and plugged it into the 1G network switch, and were able to configure and setup the NAS drive for network use. Tried and plugged in a printer and it worked too. Though when I tried to plug in another (2nd) USB external hard drive to the NAS drive as they suggested, it didn't work, and I had to reformat that external USB harddrive; a day later, the NAS drive doesn't recognize the USB harddrive again... I plug the (2nd) USB hardrive directly into two computers, and works both times. I check the firmware online, and the NAS drive has the lastest version. Perhaps they still have few bugs to fix... The fan on the NAS drive is very noisy; louder than the desktops. so you would want to find a place to put the drive so that you don't have to hear that constant noise, as if you were in a network/data room...

    Fast easy install, works great. I did have some trouble installing the right driver for my crappy HP printer though.

    Great product. I just received and installed on my home PC network. I simply plugged into my cisco router and was able to easily configure as a shared drive for my family. Took about 15 minutes to install. I bought it as a centralized backup solution for several computers in the home. I didn't realize that I could also plug in a USB printer that would allow everyone in the family to use - this is a huge plus. Also, I can easily add content from a flash drive using the USB host port - nice bonus. This weekend, I plan to setup individual folders for my kids so they have dedicated space for saving their own music, etc.. Great value for the money!!!
