5 of 5 A Great Buy! Thursday, January 15, 2009 A Customer from Albuquerque, NM
I bought this hard drive to help catch some of the overflow from my poor old computer. All you have to do is plug it in and after a quick, easy format, its ready to go. If you are unsure how to format, the instructions give you the company's website where you will find steps for formatting. I love this thing! Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Too big Thursday, January 08, 2009 Pete from Monroe Township, NJ
Works well but too big for comfortable portability. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good price, works great. Wednesday, January 07, 2009 A Customer from Iowa
Does what is supposed to, but like others have said it is formated to Mac. To get re-formatted for Windows is not a big deal but you must have some computer skills. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Nice drive Wednesday, January 07, 2009 Jim from Phoenix, AZ
This is an OK drive... Formats to less than 120 GB, of course, so that's no surprise. Speed seems good too, the only disappointment is the USB cable. It's one of the split variety (I guess some laptops don't supply 500ma/port), but the two USB ends aren't long enough to reach the ports on either side of my MacBook Pro. If you have two ports on the same side, it's fine, but I don't. I had to use an old cable I had already - fortunately the MBP does supply 500 per port, so it works fine. I got it for $49.95, so I can't complain! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 good solid drive Tuesday, January 06, 2009 A Customer from Geneseo, NY
This drive has both USB and firewire. I wanted both for use with my Mac. I plan to bring it back and forth to work for backup purposes. It is small, but not the very smallest. Its is also pretty quiet. It has worked flawlessly for me so far.

4 of 5 Works as advertised Monday, January 05, 2009 A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
This drive performed well. It does not contain any backup software. So, if you need a drive with software, look elsewhere. The only other issue with the drive is that is does not have an external power feed. It only has a "Y" USB cable so that the drive can draw power from another USB port. Meaning, if your USB ports are not capable of powering the drive, it will not function. So, unpowered USB hubs will not work. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 In general --good buy--highly functional Monday, January 05, 2009 Lawrence from Edgewater NJ
A couple of things a new buyer should know--
The drive comes formatted for a Mac--must be re-formatted for PC. The little slip of instructions written in 10 languages does not mention this (at lest I couldn't find it). The only reference to this "feature" is on the outer carton. The instructions once you get to the proper Verbatim web page are OK though.
Also, the hard drive exceeds the power available for most USB ports. A cable is provided which plugs into two ports simultaneously.
Once you get past these two problems the drive is of a convenient physical size, highly portable and seems quite fast. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Verbatim External Hard Drive Friday, December 26, 2008 Raj Prabhu from Starkville, MS.
The product seems good, but I need a smaller hard drive with more memory. Was this review helpful?
