| Album Notes and Credits |
Notes & Personnel Info | | Even after the mammoth success of third-wave ska and pop-punk bands such as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Green Day, few could have predicted the sheer number and variety of bands that punk rock would spawn in the '90s and early '00s. The Warped Tour was the first and best-run mainstream event to bring the best of these groups together under a single banner. In addition, the festival emphasized the extreme-sports/hardcore connection that has long been an essential facet of the West Coast scene. | | Anyone who's curious about the massive lifestyle phenomenon that the Warped Tour aesthetic represents would be hard pressed to find a better place to start than the WARPED TOUR 2003 compilation. In addition to scores of the most talented up-and-comers, many of the genre's most influential heavy hitters are here, including NOFX, Face To Face, Less Than Jake, and the Dropkick Murphys. In other words, this set is so chock full of hyper-speed snare drumming, angry lyric-spewing and barre-chord thrashing, that anyone hoping to mosh through both discs would have to be more athletic than a half-pipe full of Tony Hawks. |
