The band's primary influences--Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Creed--are relatively clear, yet there are also touches of nu-metal and emo expressivity. Given the familiar territory it covers, US AND THEM isn't exactly a musical revelation, but lead singer Brent Smith wails admirably, the guitars are chunky and churning, and the overall package rocks. |

| | Artist Overview | | Although a relatively young band, Jacksonville, Florida's Shinedown is among the most successful hard rock bands in the past decade. Sporting nine chart-topping singles over the course of a mere three albums is no small feat. The band's Lynyrd Skynyrd cover "Simple Man" was dedicated to fallen Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, and "I Dare You" was sung by Chris Daughtry during the 2006 season of AMERICAN IDOL. Additionally, the band's music has been featured on several WWE pay-per-view events and a number of EA Sports video games, including MADDEN '09. |
