I'm writing a review about this version of Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend (超神伝説うろつき童子）. I won't go into plot, as that's easy to find via google. This DVD takes the first 3 adult Japanese animation videos(released in the west by Anime 18 as Urotsukidoji: Perfect Collection), and with a few edits here and there combines them into an NC-17 theatrical length film.
In this DVD version the sex scenes are slightly censored and more brief, The Great Kanto Earthquake scene is now in color, and some scenes have been rearranged for storytelling. This isn't bad.. just different. As a plus, the picture quality and sound are both much improved-probably better source material was used for this DVD. Also, you have the option for Japanese or English audio.. but no subtitles? Dumb. Especially when the the English voice acting can be pretty silly at times.
Normally, I can't stand hentai anime..about the only time they were decently made was when the genre was new-in the 80's. Like other anime from that period.. they still cared about the quality of art and animation.. and decent original storytelling. Which is why the first Overfiend saga is still one of the best anime out there.. But after 'Legend' the series just melted into violent porn nonsense. Don't waste your money on the later episodes.
