1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 1 of 5 bad battery, range less than 1/2 mile Friday, June 19, 2009 A Customer from Stamford, CT
Fully charged battery does not last more than an hour. No signal beyond 1/2 mile (on clear day on the beach). Product description says UP TO 18 miles!! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good value, OK performance Sunday, April 05, 2009 A Customer from San Francisco, CA
I use mostly around a jobsite, but have been able to get clear reception at about 1 mile in a dense urban area. Battery packs that came with units only last about 1 hour - not sure if they are defective or if these radios use a lot of power? (Standard AAA batteries can be substituted, but I haven't tried them yet.) Belt clips are hard to use. Units seem relatively durable. Overall, these radios perform OK, but I haven't seen a better 2-Way with as many features at this price. They do everything we need them to. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy enough for my 6 year old Thursday, March 19, 2009 Jessica from Port St Lucie, FL
These little 2-way radios are so much fun and easy to use. My two daughters use them all the time and it has really encouraged outside play. Since they are not allowed to use them inside, they go out and "hide" from each other and use these to find each other. Also, when they go bike riding I keep one and they keep the other so that when they are out of visual range, I can still talk to them and make sure they are OK. They love them and since my 6 year old used her allowance to pay for them, they are taking really good care of them as well. Rugged, useful and prefect for what we need them for. All I can say is that I am so glad that we bought them! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Grand kids love them Tuesday, January 06, 2009 David from Richmond, Va
I got these for my grand kids to play with and for their mom to be able to keep track of them. They are very durable and sound great. Kids have learned they can talk to other neighbors with simalar units and have a ball with them. Kids are rough on their toys and these take a beating and keep working. Fast shipping and great support. Was this review helpful?

3 of 5 good product with bad battery Monday, July 21, 2008 chittemsetty from Little Rock,AR
This product is really good, I tested around a mile range, only bad about it is it's battery. With in minutes, charge diminishes. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 18 miles? more like 1.8. Saturday, July 19, 2008 John from Lakeland, Florida
First off, I use high-end radios all the time at work and should have known better but I just needed something to stay in touch when the wife and I go to campgrounds. This is perfectly adequate for that; the sound is crisp and clear up to about 1/4 mile with trees, houses, etc. You can turn off the annoying 'roger' beep but either do it before you leave home or take the directions- you'll never remember the unnecessarily complicated 'hold this while pressing that' instructions. The units are small and lightweight and perform reasonably well within a moderate range but there's no way you are going to get several miles out of them - or at least I couldn't. 4 of 5 Tough Unit Wednesday, July 16, 2008 Anton from Boise, Id
I bought two sets of these units for our team (mechanics at a ford dealership)and they work great for what we use them for.
- VALUE - they work good, and the battery stays charged all day
- EASE OF USE - push the button and talk... simple
- PERFORMANCE - this is where this unit fails in my eyes i only get about 1 to 1.5 mile range on them...could be the area i'm in?
- OVERALL SATISFACTION - the range isn't a big issue with us and these units are VERY sturdy (I accidentally ran one over with a car, loosened the screws realigned the plastic, tightened the screws.. good as new)
P.S.The specs. don't say but these come with Ni-MH battery packs and a nice looking charge station ,and it looks like you could use 4 AAA batteries (not tested) just F.Y.I. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 best 2 way for the money Saturday, June 28, 2008 A Customer from Tarpon Springs, FL
The Uniden FRS 2 way radios are the best radio for the money right now. All the recent motorola ones I have bought have had poor audio quality, it's just hard to understand people at times. These Uniden are very clear and they work well. The volume (talk and receive) is very good. Was this review helpful?
