The home planetarium projects hundreds of stars, planets, and constellations on walls and ceiling. The interactive Meteor Maker lets kids make realistic streaks across the ceiling! It includes the image of Halley's comet. The included 45-minute CD guided audio tour of the night sky stores under the base. It is accurate to season, month, day, and hour. It has a bright halogen light source and a large constellation dome to maximize projection of stars. It is portable for indoor and outdoor use and has a directional compass on its base. An activity guide is included. Age: 6+

1 of 5 On sale = CHEAP! Not worth it. Monday, August 11, 2008

The ad for the Uncle Milton Premium Star Theater Home Planetarium reads well and sounds like a great thing. Wait till you get it setup. Very poor planning and design. The globe that projects constellations on the ceiling and walls is a BIG disappointment...I set it up in a small room (10ft X 10ft) and the constellations are VERY blurry AND they are each LABELED with big print - because of the blurriness you cannot read what constellation it is. Regardless - ITS LABELED! They have a book that has pics of each constellation and it is labeled - the projection itself should NOT be labeled!! So VERY disappointing!! Not only are the constellations labeled and blurry but there are no other stars on the constellation globe - so it is not a realistic sky at all. Next is the "star dome" which is good for a nightlite to project stars on the ceiling and walls - however there is a line of stars that are so close together it projects almost a solid line across the room. It doesn't look scratched, its just poor design. The Meteor Maker has 2 slides that you put in front of a light source to project on the wall - again, in a small room the meteor looks like a weak flashlight - when you get about 3 feet from the wall it then KINDA looks like a meteor. This thing does not move - so when you set the date, which is impossible to get the exact date, it doesn't update automatically. JUST in case you were thinking it may do something like that. The nightlight is just that, a blue night light - it doesn't provide enough light to project any of the stars... Not worth the money.
