The fifth volume of Ultra Dance is the usual two-disc set, offering both highly accessible, Euro-flavored house and trance as well as harder-edged material. WKTU's Vic Latino handles disc one, which moves easily through house reduxes of pop hits. Punk Division amplifies the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" in predictable yet entertaining fashion, while Linus Loves' pulsating version of the Stevie Nicks nugget "Stand Back" is tailor-made for strobe-light posing. Boogie Pimps' "Somebody to Love" offers a rundown of the night's illicit goodies over dirty, deconstructed house. David Waxman takes over mixing duties for disc two, which sticks with house but digs a bit deeper than the first disc's relative populism. DJ Tocadisco's hard-grooving German dancefloor hit "Nobody (Likes the Records That I Play)" is here, as is the "Scumfrog Remix" of Murk's "Time." A glittery take on Pretty Poison's "Catch Me I'm Falling" harks back to disc one, but the second disc holds its own overall. Another solid comp from the Ultra people, extending the borders of N.Y.C.'s dancefloors. ~ Johnny Loftus
In the fifth volume of the ULTRA DANCE series, Vic Latino and David Waxman have come up with a great two-CD set of pumping radio and club anthems. The first disc finds Latino introducing the Kelis single "Trick Me," remixed by E-Smoove, and using mash-ups and covers of tunes such as "Oh Sheila" by Ready For the World, creatively covered by Angel City featuring Lara McAllen on vocals. Reaching far and wide, the tracks range everywhere from a teamup of Chrissie Hynde with Tube & Berger on "Straight Ahead" to the Royal Gigolos' re-working of the Mamas & Papas hit "California Dreamin."
Thick D's vocal remix of "Waiting For You" by Seal starts off the second disc. Continuing the pace, Waxman runs through Calderone & Quayle's "Resonate", IiO's "Smooth", and trance-dance favorites Delirium featuring Nerina Pallot on "Truly". Wrapped in these 24 tracks, there is definitely something for everyone.

4 of 5 Ultra. Records Stamp Tuesday, April 20, 2004
JDoe from Dallas, TX

Keeping in tune with traditional Ultra. Records standards, they have once again produced a great CD. More specifically, the Ultra. Dance series is among my favorites, however I did find some flaws with this current CD. Working in the music industry I come across MANY types of genres of music (Techno / Diva dance being my favorite) and I also find MANY types of REMIXES for said genres. Ultra. Dance 5 does not have the BEST remixes I have found by far, but the CD is still great all the same (hence the 4 overall rating).
