I was just a casual MP3 user looking for something more comfortable and could block out background noise over your standard over the counter earphones. I admit to cringing at the price tag for this pair, however, I have spent close to this amount over the last 5 years trying different styles at $20 a piece with no success. So I took the leap.
First, the trial in the house... clarity was outstanding. I had to adjust my EQ a little in the MP3 as expected. Definite high end stereo sound for the mildly trained ear.
Second, cut the grass...rider mower, volume at mid range, barely noticeable background noise.
Great comfort, plugs into ear canal just a bit to block sound. Wire over the ear is adjustable and unnoticeable to me. Watchout if you are a "sing along" user as the plugs in the ear creates an echo in your head. Just stick your fingers in your ears and talk and you will see what I mean.
The metal case and spare ear fittings are a nice addition. Size in ear isn't really isn't noticible but I haven't laid my head down with them yet. I would buy these again in a second. Was this review helpful?

Replaced another set of similar quiality from Shure (SE 210) and I was quite impressed at the improvement in sound quality and design.
I use them for everything from long runs, bike rides or a long day in the office. They pretty much block out all outside noise without much effort or volume. Oh and if you like bass these are the way to go. They offer a lot of bass but without sacrificing overall sound quality.
These are an excellent choice and I highly reccomend them. Was this review helpful?

I bought the ultimate ear studio 3 from Buy.com and found them to be superb earphones - excellent noise isolation and clarity across the entire band - except the deep bass (good but not great). So I got a pair of these UE 5 EB recently. Much of its advertising says these are intended for HipHop, Rap, and other heavy bass music content. I used these to listen to Jazz (old and new), classical, and rock and find these just as fitting for all these other genres - in fact enhances the experience. Some reviewers claim the mids and highs are overpowered by the deep bass - I did not find this at all in all the different types of music I tried. The mids and highs are just as clear - you can really hear the little details that other cheaper headphones will muddle or just miss completely. I gave the "ease of use" a 4 only because these are bulky earphones compared to the UE 3. The over the ear wire works great but these definitely are not designed for you to lean against a pillow or head rest during travel. Otherwise the extra cost of these are well worth it if you use headphones a lot. Was this review helpful?

The bass on these surprised me. I didn't think that there would be THAT much bass compared to other headphones. Bought my sister the super.fi 3's and there's a huge difference. Only thing that I would like more out of these is the noise isolation, definitely not as good as other headphones I've used, but also not horrible either. Was this review helpful?

These are awesome. The bass is deep, rich and not distorted. The mids and the highs are also great. Comfort is a little off compared to my shures but the sound makes up for it.Bass is amazing for a canal phone. Was this review helpful?
