5 of 5 Superb bass response, mids, and highs Sunday, February 10, 2008

I bought the ultimate ear studio 3 from Buy.com and found them to be superb earphones - excellent noise isolation and clarity across the entire band - except the deep bass (good but not great). So I got a pair of these UE 5 EB recently. Much of its advertising says these are intended for HipHop, Rap, and other heavy bass music content. I used these to listen to Jazz (old and new), classical, and rock and find these just as fitting for all these other genres - in fact enhances the experience. Some reviewers claim the mids and highs are overpowered by the deep bass - I did not find this at all in all the different types of music I tried. The mids and highs are just as clear - you can really hear the little details that other cheaper headphones will muddle or just miss completely. I gave the "ease of use" a 4 only because these are bulky earphones compared to the UE 3. The over the ear wire works great but these definitely are not designed for you to lean against a pillow or head rest during travel. Otherwise the extra cost of these are well worth it if you use headphones a lot. Was this review helpful?

The bass on these surprised me. I didn't think that there would be THAT much bass compared to other headphones. Bought my sister the super.fi 3's and there's a huge difference. Only thing that I would like more out of these is the noise isolation, definitely not as good as other headphones I've used, but also not horrible either. Was this review helpful?

These are awesome. The bass is deep, rich and not distorted. The mids and the highs are also great. Comfort is a little off compared to my shures but the sound makes up for it.Bass is amazing for a canal phone. Was this review helpful?
