1 of 5 The product name should not have the word studio i Tuesday, July 08, 2008 JWoodBass from Indianapolis,IN
Sound quality does not match the size or price of the earphones. For a dual armature (speaker) design, the sound should be very clean but I found the earphones distort when using the Loudness or Bass Booster EQ settings on my iPod even at a comfortable volume level(Not Loud). 5 of 5 Definitely worth the money Saturday, June 28, 2008 GM from Beavercreek,OH
Before deciding on these earphones, I spent a lot of time reading reviews of a lot of possible earphones on the market. From that, these sounded good. I am very satisfied with their performance. I have heard no instance of microphonics (probably due to the thicker cord and the loop over the ear placement-which also keeps them nicely in place). Sound is exactly as I like it.(I'm not a heavy rock or other bass heavy music listener). Comfort is superb. I wear them while bike riding and have had no problem with them staying in place. I've also scraped wallpaper off of the wall and they stayed in place nicely.
Painful ipod phones caused me to look for something else. These phones are very, very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Noise isolation is pretty good. When the music is playing (3/4 volume is way plenty loud) little if anything of outside sound can be heard.
The cord does stay kinked to a degree but this has posed no problem at all. The metal storage case is just the right size and is very protective.
I gave the 4 rating for ease of use only because there is a small amount of learning needed to properly seat the phones.
The $20 less price for the red color makes these a very good buy. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good headphones, GREAT customer service Wednesday, June 25, 2008 David S. from Nashville, TN
For someone who is not an audiophile, the sound is perfectly decent. The fit is excellent, and noise isolation spectacular. Agreed with others who pointed out they don't stay in place well during a workout. On top of the good product is UE's excellent customer service. The cable on one side started to short out after about 6 months, so I contacted support, they gave me a choice of four different cables, and sent it out almost immediately with no questions or charges. Quick, friendly, helpful. For the money, a great buy, especially at Buy.com's price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great earbuds Sunday, June 08, 2008 A Customer from Zion, IL
Very glad to find these on sale at Buy.com. Very good sound, midrange and highs are very good, bass is a bit lacking like other reviews. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 I like it Saturday, May 03, 2008 A Customer from New York, NY
Well, I did not pay full price. It was less than $15. How could I complain! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best Earbuds Under $100 Friday, May 02, 2008 TB from Chicago, IL
I was amazed at the sound, the fit, and the noise isolation. With 5 sets of ear pieces, you're assured of finding a perfect fit. The bass is a little lacking, but you can easily compensate by changing the EQ setting on your iPod. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 ok, but no more than Monday, March 24, 2008 A Customer from Cary, NC
The sound is ok. The bass is a bit lacking but not severely so. My biggest complaint is that there's really nothing 'noise isolating' about the electronics. They are just tiny earphones surrounded by ear plugs. Instead of buying more of their ridiculously overpriced tips, I'm sure I can get the same effect from buying cheap disposable foam earplugs and punching a hole through the middle for the earphone. Overall, not a bad earphone but pretty overpriced for what it is. Was this review helpful?

I ordered 2 of these, did not realize this is their bottom of the line earphone. Not a earphone if you like bass in your sound, also the sound quality is not all that great. Now do not get me wrong I bought their iPhone version, they do sound pretty good even a set of their higher end earphone. If you want to buy a earphone do not settle on these lower end version, if you do do not expect great quality sound. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Extremely happy with the earphones Tuesday, February 26, 2008 A Customer from Cherry Hill, NJ
I find that I really tune out the outside world when wearing these earphones. I have to be careful not to miss the train stop. The fit right out of the box worked perfectly for my ears. Not being an audiophile, the sound is fine for me. Was this review helpful?

These are marginal head phones. Sound is fair but I have $15 set that are every bit as good. The fit is difficult and they will not stay in place when exercising. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best I've ever heard! Thursday, January 31, 2008 A Customer from Kansas City, MO
The first time I used these headphones I had a tough time concentrating on work because I was hearing things in songs that I had NEVER heard before! Could the bass be a better? Sure. But it's not terrible. They are SO much better than any other in-ear style headphone that I've told all my friends about them! If you're trying to decide whether to spend the little extra, my suggestion is YES! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Excellent Sound & Quality Tuesday, January 29, 2008 NwM from Studio City, California
These UE earphones produce excellent sound quality...well beyond those costing the same or slightly more. And the build is very impressive with great touches such as replaceable cords and various ear tips. I would have given top marks all around except for the fact that I have a problem with a solid fit lasting while working out at the gym. The seal does not stay in place during strenuous activity but I am hoping that the replacement foam tips I have ordered ($22-25 for 10 sets) will take care of the problem. Was this review helpful?
2 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 disappointing Monday, January 28, 2008 em from aliso viejo, ca
was excited to receive these given the reviews i had read online. the packaging is great and includes the phones, some different earpiece fitting so you can choose the optimal size and a carrier case (as well as instructions). ultimately, the earpieces are successful in blocking outside sound. however, for actual sound quality, the super.fi.3's are not so great -- bass and the low-ranges are not well represented (in fact, bass heavy tracks are distorted easily). vocals and mid-ranges are too prominent and almost reverbish in their reproduction. in fact, these super.fi.3's sort of feel like a big, mono speaker in each ear. have many headphones of different quality and these really don't compare favorably in terms of the fidelity to the original recording. 4 of 5 Decent sound, ok fit Monday, January 28, 2008 Rick from Chicago, IL
I bought these headphones based on the price. Quality seems fairly good, however, it is very contingent on a good fit. Overall a good value for the quality. Word of advice - ensure you like the in-ear design before purchasing. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Sounds Monday, January 28, 2008 A Customer from Spring, TX
I use etymotic research 6i ear buds and wanted some back-ups, so I thought I would try these. Great clarity, perhaps a little lacking on the bass as noted by others. Changing the EQ on the Zune helps this. I also like the idea that you can change out the wires, as this is where ear buds normally fail. Overall, well worth the price. Very satisfied. 4 of 5 Good quality but Monday, January 28, 2008 A Customer from Indialantic Florida
These are nicely made. They produce good sound but not Bose quality or price. The isolation is only fair. The adapters are hard to use for a good noise seal and not that comfortable. If you want a top product checkout other brands like Shure. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 great product Thursday, January 10, 2008 goga from Hoboken, NJ
Very comfortable - i was wearing them during my transatlantic flight and between planes - totally about 20 hours with small pauses for when i was passing the gates or talking to officials/stewards - i even slept with them while on a plane. And i almost didn't feel them. They really provide a comfortable level of isolation from the outside noise even on a plane. Sound quality is outstanding. And it also looks super cool in red. The only drawback is that when my wife saw them and tried she liked them so much she immediately took them from me and now i don't have them :) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Ear phone head set Wednesday, January 09, 2008 A Customer from Jacksonville, FL
the earphone product was a very good value on buy.com. The product delivers a great sound and has enhanced the sound of my IPod. Thrilled! Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Stunning range of sound Thursday, December 06, 2007 Rajiv Haque from Chicago, IL

SUMMARY: These headphones will stun anyone except a hardcore base junkie. They could easily charge twice the price and more and still be the top contender in the $200 and under category. Well done Ultimate Ears, and thank you.

RANGE: I am by no means a music connoisseur (some might say I'm quite the opposite), but I listen to a rather diverse range of music. The clarity and sharpness in these headphones are gorgeous, I've never felt like Mozart was playing Pachabel Canon for me in a grand concert hall, never felt like The Killerz were playing live acoustics for me, and never felt like Jay-Z was brushing the dirt off his shoulders in front of me.

NOISE ISOLATION: I believe these super.fi 3's are rated at 26 decibels, and it seems to be relatively accurate. I use them in the office and on the train on the way to/from work. I can barely hear a thing on the train, and obviously the same the office. It's almost a little frightening how lost I can get in the music.

ACCESSORIES: The assortment of earbuds, airplane adapter, and carrying case are nice, even if standard. The cleaning tool and foam earbuds are a nice plus, but neither are make or break deal. I have the red headphones because they stand out (I refuse to wear the white Apple ones because, even though I have an iPhone, the Apple headphones are so bad it hurts).

DISADVANTAGES: The only problem is the way you have to wear the headphones, which can be quite a task the first few times you wear them, and also makes them not so easy to take out/put into your ears. I hear the over the ear wires wear down significantly with time, but the long warranty and the free replacement make it a small problem. The base in the phone is weaker than something like the Shure e5c's, but those are $500 headphones. I've listened to some of the Etymotics and the e4c's and e3c's, and these are comprable in their base levels. You won't find anything that pumps out a louder and, more importantly, cleaner thump unless you are willing to spend north of $200.
5 of 5 Great Earphones... Wednesday, December 05, 2007 Khenny from Ocean County, New Jersey
I love these earphones... I can hear things I never heard before - especially in some of my jazz CD's. I was able to hear some of the greats talking while playing (jamming) in some of their sets - it's pretty amazing.
I am now officially spoiled and can never use anything less with which I will listen to my music.
They're quit sturdy too. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Earphones Wednesday, December 05, 2007 A Customer from New York, NY
The Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 earphones are very comfortable, and do an extremely good job of isolating outside noise. I use them on my (noisy) train ride to watch movies, and had first tried a pair of iCans headphones, which cost three times as much. With the iCans, even with the volume turned way up, I often could not hear the dialogue, even when I pressed the headphones to my ears. With the UE earphones, I have the volume on my DVD player set at about the midpoint, instead of the maximum, and can hear everything clearly. In terms of music reproduction, the earphones are superb in the mid- and treble range: bright without being harsh. The bass with a flat setting is a little subdued for my taste, but responds properly when boosted. I should emphasize that I have avoided earphones because I have never found any that were comfortable, even for short periods of time, but the UE earphones are, in some ways, even more comfortable than headphones.
