5 of 5 Worked right out of the Box Wednesday, June 11, 2008 Char from Garden Grove California
This worked right out of the box for my RCA TV - great product! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great so far! Thursday, May 08, 2008 Ken from Pittsburgh, PA
My wife and stepson had 2 of these up and running in no time, and one has been dropped from 3+ feet onto a Pergo floor and still looks and works perfectly fine. If it can work for our old hodgepodge of equipment and amidst 6 kids, it'll probably work for almost anyone. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Does't work for Advent TV Monday, January 21, 2008 A Customer from Mineola, NY
I bought this for my Advent TS2066A TV. It does not work for my TV even though it said works for all brands. I tried all codes but no luck. I would not spend return shipping fee to return. Any way it works for Sony or Panasonic well. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Solid remote, incredible price Wednesday, May 23, 2007 David Henderson from Cary, NC

I bought this remote a couple of months back, hoping to find something that would be a true universal remote solution without breaking the bank. My wife wasn't willing to let me spend several hundred on a Harmony remote without at least giving this one a chance. She had done some research and had seen lots of good reviews but I remained skeptical.

I am really quite pleased! We are using it to control a Philips TV, a Series 2 Tivo, an Onkyo A/V receiver, a Pioneer DVD player and an older Kenwood 5-disc CD changer. I had to send it in to get codes added to handle the Onkyo, but that was pretty simple and the support was good. The remote now handles the Onkyo pretty well, although I can't switch to all of the inputs from the remote (Video 3 and 4 seem to be missing). With the devices that are attached to those inputs, it isn't a big deal.

My biggest concern was good Tivo functionality. With such a specialized remote, replacing a Tivo's remote with a universal is generally hit and miss. Not so with the 6131N. The remote was designed with Tivo/Replay in mind and it offers full coverage of all Tivo functionality. It's really a nice alternative to the Tivo remote.

A couple of really nice features on this remote:
Master Power: If you hold the power button for two seconds, it will turn on/off your choice of devices. I have mine setup to turn on/off the TV and receiver.

Volume: With a little bit of setup, you can 'lock' the volume control to a specific device. Because I am generally controlling my Tivo, the remote's mode is generally set to PVR. Because I always use my receiver for sound, I needed to volume up/down and mute buttons to send signals to the receiver. This is easy to set up on this remote and works great. It's the same when controlling the DVD player. Even though the remotes play, pause, etc buttons are signalling the DVD player, the volume signals are sent to the receiver.

5 of 5 A High End Contender Monday, April 23, 2007 Mike from New Jersey
Let me say this: I've owned a Harmony 676 and a Osiris MX-350. I sold the Harmony after 2 years of use (It was love to hate) and returned the MX-350 after just two days of use.
The biggest issue problem I had was the idea that the remote would become "out of sync" with the LCD screens. Example, the LCD would indicate the power was on/off and your components were the opposite. Although not much to fix, it was annoying. There were pros and cons to all - same as with this remote, but when you consider the price this one makes it totally worth it. This is my second one. I originally purchased it for my bedroom to only control my Sharp LCD and Motorola HD DVR and it works exactly as I need and want it to. You will probably need to send your remote back to OFA as I did, to have the "exact" code profile loaded into your remote and you only pay the shipping one way. Their support was great, especially given the price of the product! You have your remote back in about a week but the work perfect (at least they did for me).
I can go on an on, but trust me. I've tried some of the best and worst. This one really does just want you need, and the minor inconveniences it has are no worse than that of the much more expensive ones.
Good Luck. I'll always consider an OFA remote first from now on. Was this review helpful?
