5 of 5 Try it,you will like it ! Friday, May 02, 2008 Mikeyinsr from Sunriver, Oregon
This little gem worked just as promised. I plugged it in, went through a quick set up/demo and off it went. The sound was way better right away, and if you like to tweak your music, the EQ and effects are excellent. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good product Thursday, January 24, 2008 chrshollister from schenectady, ny
Good product & easy to install. Not sure if it is "better" than my laptop's sound card, not much difference and it is much cheaper than installing a new one in my laptop. Very satisfied w/ product. AND really fast shipping by buy.com. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great device for the price Wednesday, September 26, 2007 JJ from Menasha, WI
This is a great little audio device. We bought this when our headphone jack on the laptop got busted. Now we just plug in the "turtle" and we can plug in our speakers and headphones again! Only con is that special USB feature that needs to reinstall the device if you use a different port than you did during the install. The option to go digital is a super cool feature as well!! Comes with a nice software package for sound modeling as well. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice Product Monday, January 29, 2007 A Customer from Western MA
I used this product to set up my PC for surround sound on my A/V Receiver. Works great. 5.1 DD surround sound from DVDs. Beats buying a new sound card and installing it. Also, I plan on using this on my laptop for traveling but have not installed the software or used it yet on that. Was this review helpful?

I bought this in order to replace the sound card on my laptop. My headphone port wore out and since it is fused to the system board I needed to find a replacement sound card. I think the TurtleBeach sounds better than the orignal Yamaha card and the price was right. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 AWESOME Product! Wednesday, September 21, 2005 K.N from Lexington, KY
I am a movie fan who flies way too much. I like most frequent fliers own a pair of noise cancelling headphones...a requirement if you want to hear movie dialogue. All I can say is that this sound card makes my cheapie headphones sound almost as good as some of the pricier ones. 5.1 surround sound in economy class....I am in heaven. Did I say I really love this product and highly recommend it to everyone. Perfect for an audiophile with just a laptop. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?

I have a harman/kardon 5.1 speaker system and an Onkyo Dolby Digital/DTS receiver, and a laptop. I was thinking that they should make something that would allow the 5.1 channel sound decoded on DVDs to pass through the laptop via optical cable. Then I found this amazing little device (for under $30). It really is great. I didn't notice a drastic improvement in headphone sound over the laptop headphone jack, but this thing actually delivers clean 5.1 channels and allows for amazing high-fidelity home theater sound. It really eliminates the need for a separate DVD player if you have a laptop. The applications included are pretty cheezy but the device works well with WinDVD and Windows Media 10.0, among others I'm sure. You have to go into the options/preferences tab in your DVD player software to make sure that the Dolby Digital box is checked. Great work Turtle Beach! Was this review helpful?

I bought this based on the reviews I read. This is really a good product and significantly improved the sound quality and volume level over my laptop sound. But it also produced pops & clicks in the output which was pretty annoying. The turtle beach support FAQ said it has something to do with USB bandwidth, but I don't hook up any other USB device when using this as the web site suggests and still get the pops & clicks. On the whole, the product is pretty good and delivers. Was this review helpful?

I totally agree that this is one terrific piece of technology. Beyond that it, neatly solves a problem I've had with various Sony VAIO notebook docks and port replicators: they don't bring out the audio. As a result, every time you dock, you have to plug in the freakin' audio cable. I had this problem with my R505s and now with my newest S Series machines. While it should embarrass Sony that its newest VAIO docks don't deliver world-class audio (VAIO does stand for Video Audio Input Output), the Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro does it for them. Simply plug it into one of the available USB ports the back of the dock or replicator, and you instantly have a simulated surround sound stereo signal or a TOSlink Dolby Digital signal for downstream procesing. Since it's plugged into a fixed USB port, you just drop your notebook on the dock and crank up the tunes. Thank you, thank you, Turtle Beach! Was this review helpful?

One of a kind product, will pass TRUE DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 signal to an home theater receiver. Highly recommended, very durable and a great value. Clean sounding audio using a TOSLINK cable. Made by a highly trusted company. Was this review helpful?

I have a 15" Apple Powerbook Titanium and the sound card recently died. I bought this as a replacement not really expecting much change in the sound quality. WOW, the sound from this tiny little device is great(granted it is compared to a laptop sound card). It is crisp and clean, and the sound card is truly the size of a pen drive. I'm sure its not near as good as some of the other USB audio devices out there, but for someone on the go this tiny little audio adapter makes your laptop shine. Oh, and for you Mac users its plug and play... no drivers needed! Was this review helpful?
