| | | Illustrator Shannon Cartwright once again brings to the page and into kids' hearts a delightful tale about Alaska wildlife. In this new Paws IV book, a young girl plays hide-and-seek with a friendly ptarmigan on the Alaska Range. Season by season, the ptarmigan changes its plumage to blend with its surroundings, leaving the little girl wondering each time where it has disappeared to. Written in rhyming verse and filled with fascinating information about the ptarmigan, this charming book is ideal for reading aloud to young children.
| Author Bio| Jacob Grimm | | Jacob Grimm is famous for the fairy tales he wrote with his brother Wilhelm. Both brothers attended the University of Marburg to study law, but their love of folklore and desire to keep ancient stories alive led them to produce collections of stories. Their first collection of tales was produced in 1812, but was not written for children. A children's edition of folk and fairy tales was published in 1814 and included such stories as "Rapunzel", "Rumpelstilskin", and "The Twelve Dancing Princesses". The brothers lived together throughout their lives. In 1825, Wilhelm married Dorothea Wild--the couple had five children and Jacob was like a second father to them. There is a memorial to the two brothers in Hanau, Germany. |
