From the #1 "New York Times" bestselling author comes an unforgettable love story that explores the deepest mysteries of all--those of the heart. Unabridged. 9 CDs.

Annotation:
A professional skeptic learns how to trust his heart in this sentimental novel by the author of the blockbuster THE NOTEBOOK. Jeremy Marsh is a science journalist who's just scored a major coup by debunking a popular television psychic. His next assignment--investigating the ghostly lights appearing in a small-town cemetery in North Carolina--doesn't promise to be anything nearly as impressive...that is, until he meets the lovely Lexie Darnell, the granddaughter of the local "diviner."

Publishers Weekly
"[A] romantic confection that's light as air, smooth as silk and gloriously sweet." 03/21/2005

Author Bio
Nicholas Sparks
Nicholas Sparks was born on New Year's Eve, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska. The son of a scholar, his early years were largely nomadic until his father settled into a Ph.D. program at the University of Southern California. Like his father, Sparks excelled intellectually throughout high school and college at the University of Notre Dame. His first love, however, was running. When a severe tendon injury forced him off the track during his first year of college, Sparks, at his mother's request, delved into writing. His first book, THE PASSING, was never published and still sits in his family's attic. Several years passed, during which time Sparks married and had two sons. After surviving uninspiring careers as a real estate appraiser, waiter, telemarketer, and entrepreneur, Sparks wrote his first published work, THE NOTEBOOK. This inspirational love story based on the life of his grandparents was an instant best-seller in 1996. Since then, he has written two other books--MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE (1998) and A WALK TO REMEMBER (1999)--both of which have achieved best-seller status. MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE was adapted for film in 1999 and starred Kevin Costner, Paul Newman, and Robin Wright Penn.

Chapter One

Jeremy Marsh sat with the rest of the live studio audience, feeling unusually conspicuous. He was one of only half a dozen men in attendance on that mid-December afternoon. He'd dressed in black, of course, and with his dark wavy hair, light blue eyes, and fashionable stubble, he looked every bit the New Yorker that he was. While studying the guest onstage, he managed to surreptitiously watch the attractive blonde three rows up. His profession often demanded effective multitasking. He was an investigative journalist in pursuit of a story, and the blonde was just another member of the audience; still, the professional observer in him couldn't help noticing how attractive she looked in her halter top and jeans. Journalistically speaking, that is.

Clearing his mind, he tried to focus his attention on the guest again. This guy was beyond ridiculous. In the glare of television lights, Jeremy thought the spirit guide looked constipated as he claimed to
